Job Description:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS) or similar field of study preferred

Work Experiences:

  • 5+ years of experience with software technologies and design, development, and testing mid-sized to large object-oriented applications
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML, DHTML (including hand coding when necessary), troubleshooting, debugging, and browser compatibility issues
  • Experience in graphical user interface design and usability analysis for web and browser based application development
  • Proficient with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) in an agile environment using multiple platform/IDE/programming languages
  • Experience with database connectivity and writing queries
  • Working knowledge of XML, XSLT, JSP and how it relates to the interface design and HTML layout
  • Proficient with Eclipse, IBM Rational or similar IDE
  • Knowledge of eCommerce systems and concepts

Skills:

  • Highly motivated and driven, capable of working with little instruction to resolve demanding tasks, as well as work with external development teams
  • Proficient and hands on programming experience in Java languages
  • Knowledge of cloud and container technology (Docker, Kubernetes, GCP)
  • Experience with high-throughput queuing or distributed log technology (e.g. Rabbit MQ)
  • Experience with version control systems (preferably GIT)
  • Familiarity with Java build tools like Gradle and/or Maven
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies preferred
  • Analytical, with strong problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as effectively contribute to a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and interface effectively with individuals at various levels
  • Ability to remain organized, pay attention to detail and meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to focus efforts when design/development time is limited
  • Strong Microsoft Office program experience including, Word, Excel and Adobe

Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive projects in assigned application area
  • Independently lead the entire technical delivery of various projects from conception to deployment including all phases of software development
  • Develop and review detailed designs
  • Develop user interfaces for browser based web applications
  • Develop and support applications in Java/PHP
  • Support the lead architect in the technical management and execution of projects including coordinating tasks, ensuring milestones are achieved, and working with team members
  • Translate business capability to technical solutions
  • Verify usability compliance for applications
  • Identify and implement quality solutions, generate and document procedures for enterprise solutions
  • Lead code review sessions
  • Provide technical training and mentoring to other developers
  • Partner with developers and business analysts to refine existing designs based on requirements
  • Interact with project management to plan project schedules and technical direction
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures and safety rules
  • Duties may change; team member may be required to perform other duties as assigned
