3rd Shift Operations Supervisor – East Longmeadow, MA

  • What You'll Do
    The Night Shift Operations Supervisor has responsibility for leading all elements of the manufacturing process for assigned value streams while operating within capital and budget parameters.

  • Manage a team of direct reports (up to 35 FTE's).
  • Ensures that working conditions are safe and practices are maintained. 
  • Performs audits, quantify, develop and implement YOY improvements in OSHA recordables, DPPM, scrap, labor efficiency, 5s, TPM and delivery performance.
  • Drive, produce and communicate results of department safety, quality, customer service, and cost KPIs for each flow line. 
  • Responsible for all training aspects of all direct reports (quality, manufacturing processes, TPM, 5s).
  • Maintain records of all training activities, evaluate skill gaps and implement cross training to meet business needs.
  • Responsible for purchasing of departmental supplies (tooling, consumables, packaging).
  • Responsible for cycle count of parts board inventories.
  • Management of inventory accuracy through cycle counts, scrap transactions, production transactions. 
  • Support continuous improvement projects and drive lean manufacturing principles.
  • Maintain time and attendance tracking.
  • Responsible for hazard assessment of all chemicals affiliated with the department.
  • Responsible for all near miss, accident, quality and property damage investigations and corrective action.
  • Develop/maintain staffing plans in accordance with forecasted demand. This process includes the interviewing/onboarding of new employees as well as redeployment of employees through the facility to adjust staffing for decreases in demand.
  • Recommend and implement more efficient production methods, processes, purchasing, tooling and manpower usage techniques as required to meet or exceed flow line goals. 
  • Supervise product management and necessary records and controls to assure accurate inventories of materials, parts and finished goods.
  • EH&S responsibility including: promoting behavioral based safety throughout plant, employee engagement meetings/toolbox talks, monthly EH&S Trainings/Investigations, EH&S incident reporting.
  • Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience in manufacturing supervision
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Managerial courage with a strong emphasis on interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to adapt to shifting priorities and multi-tasking
  • Detail oriented, self-assured, tactful, supportive
  • Mechanical background beneficial
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic team environment and compromise to the overall benefit of the organization.
