Alcoa Transformation group is looking to fill the role of an Environmental Remediation Technology Manager! Transformation is charged with the global responsibility to manage Alcoa's identified environmental liabilities and assets at closed locations and to provide technical assistance for operating locations' waste management needs to meet overall financial and risk avoidance goals.
This position will play a key role at the Remediation and Technology department and it requires project management expertise and a deep understanding of treatment technologies for water, groundwater, soil and solid waste; environmental investigation and feasibility studies; ecological and human health risk assessment; and social management issue awareness.Main responsibilities:
Accountable for identifying liabilities, developing appropriate strategies to assess and remediate environmental legacy as well as operational issues related to wastewater, process water and soils/waste residuals, as well as budget forecasting and managing liability estimates through implementation.
Develop environmental management strategies for wastewater, solid waste/residuals including risk-based decision-making processes.
Assist with management of bench and pilot scale test programs for process/wastewater treatment as well as waste management reuse and recycle.
Maintain current understanding of industry best practices and technology trends.
Manage interaction with property owners on access and remedial action.
Be accountable for project management of selected consultants and contractors consistent with Alcoa Standards.
Responsible for developing and managing environmental reserves, project budgets, requisitions, and invoice approval.
Negotiate with federal, state and local authorities for permitting, investigation and remediation of contaminated properties.
Develop and exhibit subject matter expertise regarding remediation technology and trends.
Collaborate with Operating Locations to support air/water/solid waste management initiatives.

BS degree from an accredited college or university with a major in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or related field. Engineering MS preferred
Minimum of 10 years meaningful experience; experience in the metals industry preferred
Strong working knowledge in process water treatment and proven waste remediation projects
Solid understanding of health and safety field standards and practices
Solid understanding of regulatory agency requirements
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and influence others
Awareness of the importance of social management and governance
Ability to work alone and in project team environments to ensure successful project completion.
PE licensure preferred
