Housekeeping Technician will perform a combination of cleaning duties to maintain hospital cleanliness while adhering to infection practices and safety regulations with OSHA, CMS, and Licensure Standards
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.
Organizing and coordinating service to provide a safe and hygienic environment for patients and staff.
Acquiring and storing enough supplies and equipment to maintain environment in a clean and sanitary condition always.
Cleaning and sanitary condition of the hospital.
Adhere to policies and procedures for fluid and wet vacuuming, wet mopping technique, linen service, handling of soiled linens and trash collection.
Adhere to policies and procedures for disposing contaminated waste products.
Adhere to policies and procedures of cleaning of isolation areas.
Adhere to the following duties:
Adheres and respects all policies and procedures regarding anonymity and confidentiality of all patient records past and present. This covers any written or verbal communications regarding patient's identify, address, and situation.
Functions in a friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional manner with patients, families, physicians, referral sources, visitors, coworkers, and management.
Promotes, adheres, and monitors for a drug and violence free work place.
Discard waste and trash into proper containers and re-line receptacles with plastic liners.
Patient room trash cans cleaned thoroughly with no liner.
Remove trash in 24-hour trash cans twice a day which includes patient bathroom (located near seclusion room), nurses lounge, nurses' desk, clean utility, and central supply room.
Monitor budget and track trends for inefficiency or wastefulness.
Request MSDS when new chemical is ordered.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Knowledge of infection control rules, regulations and guidelines adopted for guidance for hospital housekeeping by departments.
Knowledgeable in isolation requirements and documentation and understanding of the contaminated tools and equipment.
Knowledgeable of chemical hazards an appropriate use of chemicals.
Promotion of the reduction of stigma of mental illness.
Knowledgeable of persons served/persons rights.
Advocate for the needs of the persons served.
Knowledgeable and demonstrates the mission of the hospital.
Legal aspects of clinical practice and professional standards.
Prefer 1-year experience as a housekeeping technician and or maintenance experience in a healthcare environment.
High school preferred.
CPR and CPI certification required (or training within 6 weeks upon hire) with yearly refreshers.
Restraint and Seclusion training (within 6 weeks upon hire).
Advanced Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Access, Power Point and Word
Ability to learn HRIS and/or applicant tracking systems
Standard Office Equipment
Job may require frequent lifting of objects up to 40 pounds
Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling
Work is typically performed in a standard office environment; well-lit; comfortable temperature controlled; above-average conversational noise is frequent
