PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensures correct patient, diagnosis and exam.
Performs diagnostic scans as directed by Radiologists.
Uses correct scan protocols in an effort to optimize image quality while decreasing scan length and repeat procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of patient positioning and coil selection.
Performs quality assurance tests according to manufacturer, reporting any malfunctioning equipment.
Pushes exams onto PACS in a timely manner and corrects any anomalies post scan.
Enters all pertinent patient history into notes section, including gestational age and head circumference as needed.
Ensure correct order matches diagnosis and protocol.
2. Quality Patient Care
Properly screens and administers contrast media.
Properly screens patient with attention to pregnancy and MRI contraindications.
Responds to emergency call backs within mandatory time period.
Explanation of exams/procedures to patients and families.
Encourages one family member to be present during exams when appropriate.
Demonstrates knowledge of all emergency equipment/supplies.
Demonstrates a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients, families and visitors.
Knowledgeable about and adheres to all safety recommendations regarding MRI.
Label all medications with printed label post pharmacy verification.
Consistently updates patient information in Epic to effectively communicate with all team members.
3. Area Management
Ensures that work area is properly maintained, including compliance with all hospital, Department of Health and Joint Commission rules and regulations.
Submits supply requests based on par levels as needed.
Disposes of expired supplies.
Keeps area prepared with supplies (ie. stocking linens, IV materials, contrast) prior to exams.
Maintains area cleanliness both before and after patient exams.
Communicates well with staff members in the department, hospital and referring physician offices.
Assists nursing personnel.
Relates pertinent information for add-on patients nursing staff, Radiologists and Patient Access Representatives.
Works as a team player by demonstrating team support in interactions with coworkers( ie. phone calls and relatedtasks).
4. Continuing Education and professional development
Keeps current of new technologies in evolving MRI field.
Does independent self study in preparation for installation of new equipment.
Completes quarterly competencies prior to due date.
5. Hospital Policy and Procedures
Adheres to all ACH Service Standards: Safety, Compassion, Performance and Presentation in all actions.
Complies with Arkansas State Health Department Regulations; Joint Commission regulations; andpractices universal precautions as directed by OSHA.
Adheres to ACH Mission statement and complies with all ACH and departmental policies and procedures.
Responds accordingly to all ACH emergency procedures.
Required - Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma - Field of Study: Radiology Technology or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) (Prefer additional year in MRI )
Preferred - 1 years technologist experience preferred
Preferred - 1 years MRI Technologist experience preferred
CERTIFICATION / LICENSE / REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
Required - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT R)or MRI Specialist (Certification) (Candidate must possesss at time of hire)
Required - MRI Specialist (Certification) (needed within 2 years of hire date)
Required - Good communication and organization skills.
Required - Concise decision making skills.
Required - Flexible working hours and able to share call duties.
Required - Computer experience preferred/data entry.
Required - Must not have any contraindications for working in strong magnetic fields.
Required - Must be able to respond to call back exams within mandatory time limits.
Preferred - Previous experience on GE LX and Philips Achieva MRI systems preferred.
