Role Summary

The role is to support the development of the ACA+ functionality from start of the project until the EOP. The role will involve communicating with the internal stakeholders and suppliers throughout the whole product lifecycle. The person will be also responsible for planning and executing necessary steps together with the Sr. Engineer to address the project need and to achieve the project targets. . This person will be involved in interdisciplinary concept design, definition and specification during the beginning of the project as well in the implementation, testing and approval of the intended ADAS functions.


Role Responsibilities

Concept Design and Definition of the Functionality (20%)

  • Support the Sr Engineer during the concept phase to identify the stakeholders, summarize the stakeholder requirements and to prepare the project plan

  • Work together with the team in Germany to ensure a smooth integration of the HW and SW products into the electrics/electronics architecture as well as the whole car architecture

  • Support the creation and implementation of functional architectures, safety analysis, safety concepts and test concepts

Implementation / realization (40%)

  • Work together with the development team in preparing a project plan including a feature release plan considering the different levels of maturity of the ACA+ functionality as well as the levels of maturity of all relevant partner ECUs and partner functionalities

  • Monitor the implementation and realization of the product in close cooperation with relevant ECUs and other related functionalities

  • Organizing regular functional team meetings between all involved parties with respect to functional contents and schedule

  • Reporting of the status of the project on regular intervals

Testing (30%)

  • Support the definition of measurement setup and cars together with involved parties

  • Definition of test scope, test cases, test locations and scenarios considering the specific needs of the functionality and the current level of maturity (e.g. definition of tests on module, component or system level)

  • Organization of adequate test drives according to the SW release plan

  • Ensuring the compliance of the intended functionality with all functional and non-functional requirement.

Approval (10%)

  • In charge of collecting all relevant test reports

  • In charge of collecting the minor approvals of all involved components and functionalities



Requirements

Experience

  • 5-7 years of work experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, computer science or comparable)

  • Master's or PhD in in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, computer science or comparable)(desired)

General Skills

  • Effective analytical and conceptual skills to derive adequate solutions for technical problems

  • Excellent planning and organization, project management and time management skills

  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Ability to work independently

Specialized Skills

  • Proven working experience in the domain of functional development for ADAS, especially automated or autonomous driving

  • Expertise in embedded SW and its implementation

  • Prior experience working with different ADAS simulation tools and ADTF measurement systems

  • Should be familiar with the standard automotive product development and product release practices

  • Knowledge of VW Group internal softwares like IDEX, AVx, System 42, DOORS etc (desired)

  • Basic German language skills (written and spoken) (desired)

  • Knowledge of control theory in automotive domain, especially regarding longitudinal and lateral control (desired)

  • Knowledge of the programming languages C and Python (desired).

Work Flexibility

  • Flexibility to travel (domestic and international)
