Role Summary

  • This role is directly responsible for creating a proactive corporate and brand communications strategy and shaping a strategic narrative that brings the Audi story to life for all of our most important stakeholders: employees, dealers, media, customers, partners, investors, etc.

  • The director will be responsible for several key communication areas including corporate communications and executive visibility, crisis communications, employee communications and engagement, dealer communications, brand PR and marketing communications, lifestyle and entertainment PR, influencer engagement and sponsorship communications in various areas including arts, entertainment & film, sports and social progress

  • The director will work in tandem with the SVP, Chief Communications Officer to inspire and lead the communications team, ignite meaningful change within the broader organization and provide strategic communications counsel to executives and senior teams at Audi

  • This role will be responsible for leading our internal teams and external agency partners to develop impactful creative ideas that are culturally relevant and drive the positive reputation of the brand

  • This role will serve as the stand in for the Chief Communications Officer when needed.

Role Responsibilities

Leadership / Strategy: (50%)

  • Develop Audi's communications strategy and narrative as noted above

  • Recognize, curate and develop creative ideas and programs that will differentiate the Audi brand and position Audi as a progressive, leading luxury brand

  • Work directly with the President of AoA and the management team to create the corporate communications framework for our 2025 business strategy

  • Serve as one of the lead spokespeople for the Audi brand in the U.S., mentor future spokespeople, and counsel executives prior to interview and speaking events

  • Direct the day-to-day corporate and brand communications staff located in Herndon, VA and LA, California

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with AUDI communication colleagues in Germany and with the colleagues who support the functional areas of marketing

  • Represent the brand at a variety of internal and external events, functions, speaking opportunities and activities

  • Serve as primary Audi representative in high-profile, sensitive, influential communities, i.e. an ambassador of Audi in National, NY, LA, SF, and Miami across multiple industries/levels

  • Serve as consultant, advisor and filter for potential PR and Marketing opportunities

  • Lead the AoA influencer strategy development and program development

  • Serve as AUDI AG point person for VIP partnerships and collaborate on global programs and events

  • Lead agency planning and execution on annual objectives

  • Manage high-level partnerships and relationships; negotiate multi-million dollar contracts/deal points on AoA projects with media, lifestyle and industry partners

  • Flawlessly lead event planning/execution for corporate and brand events

  • Lead, coach and mentor direct reports and other communications team members

  • Research and introduce new technologies and processes that aid the communication staff in attaining recognition as the leading premium brand through media coverage.

Communications / Brand Building: (50%)

  • Maintain existing relationships and develop new relationships with key national and local media representing business, general interest, lifestyle, entertainment, tech and automotive outlets

  • Lead annual narrative development and contribute to thought leadership strategies and messaging

  • Garner regional, national and global media coverage on AoA events and partnerships

  • Support automotive media launches, programs and relationships on a national level

  •  VIP introductions and relationships at senior level in multiple industries:  entertainment, sports, arts, film, business, design, fashion, tech on national level

  • Support the President, the senior management team, and internal & external spokespeople in public appearances (interviews and speeches, etc.)

  • Find ways to amplify Marketing, Experiential, Sponsorship and Media programs through additional Communications/Media activities and support

  • Partner with HR and the head of Inclusion on employee communications and engagement strategy

  • Partner with Marketing on the development of external messaging and the amplification of global brand campaigns and programs

  • Sponsorship negotiation/execution of multi-million dollar PR and marketing partnerships and sponsorships

  • Brand reputation and issues management

  • Work closely with AoA Social Media team to identify opportunities and coverage plans

  • Oversee/manage multiple PR and communications agency relationships and lead planning, budgeting and annual P.O. process

  • Maintain product knowledge of extensive Audi portfolio for communications and messaging

  • Coordinate multimedia opportunities with AUDI AG Communications and AoA resources



  • 12 years of experience


  • Bachelor' Degree in Communications, Journalism, or an associated area (Arts & Sciences, Economics, Sociology, Psychology)

  • Master's Degree (desired).

  • Events strategy, execution, project management experience

  • Experience in Luxury, Automotive or Technology companies (desired)

  • Global communications and/or marketing experience (desired)

Work Flexibility

  • Moderate to heavy traveling, flexible work schedule that may require some weekends and late nights
