Role Summary

  • Work with the algorithm engineers to develop models of dynamical systems, path planning and control algorithms, sensor fusion and other ADAS algorithms

  • Responsible for the integration of the plant and controller models into the overall vehicle model

  • Responsible for the development of a simulation environment to enable the simulation and testing of ADAS features

  • Responsible for the development of simulation test cases for features validation

  • Understand the behavior of sensor systems as a function of vehicle dynamics to identify possible improvements and trade-offs.

Role Responsibilities

Development of simulation environment for testing of ADAS hardware and software (30%)

  • Work together with the function developers to define the required simulation environment

  • Setting up of the simulation environment in-house and finding synergies with the already existing resources in Germany and in the US

  • Working together with suppliers for acquiring and implementing the required systems to meet the simulation requirements

Definition of test cases and preparation of test plan (30%)

  • Work together with the function and test owners to define the required test cases

  • Prepare the test plans in coordination with the development team in Germany and in the US

  • Ensure that the test plan fulfills all internal and external stakeholder requirements

Coordination and tracking of HIL and SIL tests and preparation of test reports (20%)

  • Plan the resources for executing the HIL and SIL tests

  • Work together with other VW Group location or external service providers to execute the tests as required

  • Prepare the test reports according to the VW Group internal standards and submit it to the project team as required

Support release activities for hardware and software components (20%)

  • Support the development team in planning and executing the different hardware and software release related activities



  • 7+ years of work experience


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, computer science or comparable)

  • Master's or PhD in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, computer science or comparable) (desired)

Specialized Skills

  • Expertise in ADAS Hardware and Software simulation

  • Excellent knowledge of test management of automotive safety related functions

  • First-hand experience working with simulation tools like MotionDesk, ModelDesk, CarMaker and Virtual Test Drive

  • First-hand experience working with ADAS HILs and SILs

  • Expertise in integration of ECUs in HIL environments

  • Basic knowledge of Functional Safety for Automotive ADAS systems

  • Knowledge of VW Group internal softwares like IDEX, AVx, System 42, DOORS etc (desired)

  • Basic German language skills (written and spoken) (desired)
