Job Description
The Sensors and Electronics Solutions Production Manager position will lead teams in the areas of electronics manufacturing and assembly, mechanical fabrication, material planning, production control, and manufacturing engineering. This is a senior staff level position than will report to the business unit Program Director.

The Production Manager will direct consistent MRP, scheduling, and Lean manufacturing methodologies to positively impact program profitability and cost competitive production capabilities. The position will support multiple types of programs from development, prototyping, and production to include machine shop/sheet metal shop and electrical fabrication of wire harnesses, CCA, and LRUs.

This role provides leadership, participates in continuous improvement activities such as Lean events, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and drives execution for affordability initiatives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Generally operates with considerable latitude for actions or decisions, independently and on own initiative with minimal supervision from Director.
2. Supports, plans and organizes all activities to meet product line, department, quality and company objectives including productivity targets, cost and schedule objectives.
3. Establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of operations, product quality, and safety. Determines and enforces productivity, quality and safety requirements in accordance with company needs. Promotes company- wide quality improvement efforts.
4. Monitors performance to established contractual schedules (i.e. establish realization targets, meet Quality objectives).
5. Encourages two way communications with supervision and assigned personnel through meetings.
6. Serves as point of contact for assigned personnel in matters pertaining to recruitment, personnel transactions, disciplinary actions and inter/intra departmental and company transactions.
7. Encourages continuous improvement by meeting the requirements, striving for error free work, managing by prevention.
8. Evaluates assigned personnel on clear and well-defined objectives in a fair and consistent manner.
9. Promotes Lean initiatives and effective supply chain management.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Supports Programs in the accomplishment of production / manufacturing work in terms of:
Directs consistent MRP, Lean manufacturing methodologies to positively impact program profitability and cost competitive production capabilities. Develops production performance metrics to drive visibility, accountability, and opportunity for process improvement efficiencies.

Ensures unified efficiency in facility, space, capital, and workforce planning across production operations. Load levels production assignments for overall cost effectiveness. Coordinates key surge/ reach-back requirements across the organization.
Supports development of Operations overhead budgets manages costs within those established budgets/ rates.
Leads production capability planning during key capture/ proposal activities.
Ensures appropriate Capital and Support Equipment is available
Ensures Technical Data and associated work instructions are available.
Seeks out and develops Production Improvement initiatives and is responsible for Manufacturing Engineering team.
Forecasts Facility Capacity and utilization, production staff requirements/ manpower for the site.
Responsible for manufacturing and production workforce training and development.
Responsible for Safety, FOD, and Tool Control programs.
Responsible for product quality.
Responsible for component test activities and associated personnel.
Responsible for shipping, receiving, warehousing, and part control.
Oversees production schedule, hours (Cost) performance to budgets.
Participates in the development of, and signs off on, bids for production work to be accomplished at the site.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experience

Experience managing technical/production personnel, which should include a minimum of two years of prior operations supervision

Must have thorough knowledge of a variety of manufacturing activities including purchasing, materials, engineering, production, and testing processes.

Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

Preferred Skills and Education
Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.

Lean Six Sigma or other Process improvement training/ certification.

Production schedule management and Earned Value Management reporting.

Experience with DoD contract manufacturing or production programs.
