Job Description
BAE Systems in Washington DC is seeking a System Administrator to support the Strategic Systems Program (SSP). The ideal candidate must possess strong problem solving skills, a high degree of technical expertise, and a commitment to exceptional customer service and teamwork. Candidate must be able to meet DoD Cyber workforce requirements within 6 months of being hired.
In this role you will:

  • Work with infrastructure-as-code
    • Manage projects and source code using Git
    • Create software and deployment pipelines
    • Prepare infrastructure documentation
  • Work with Model Based System Engineers on the setup and configuration of engineering tools
    • No Magic Teamwork Cloud
    • Cameo Systems Modeler
  • Manage Windows and Linux (RHEL) Servers
    • Maintain the configuration of the servers
    • Harden the services by utilizing the DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides, best practices, and vendor guidelines.
    • Test operating system patches, schedule patch windows, and perform patching
    • Customize virtual server images, build and deploy virtual servers
    • Install and deploy applications
    • Troubleshoot server and application issues
    • Look for opportunities to automate tasks
  • Install, operate, and troubleshoot Apache HTTPD, Microsoft IIS, and Apache Tomcat
    • Dynamically deploy applications using automation framework
    • Deploy and operate applications in Docker containers
    • Monitor and maintain production applications
    • Assist application developers with migrating applications and application updates into productions
  • Perform certificate management on servers and applications utilizing the DoD PKI infrastructure
  • Design and troubleshoot IP based networks


Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
  • Experience hardening IT systems
  • Ability to write code using a scripting language (i.e. Powershell, Ansible, Bash, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with DoD PKI infrastructure
  • Experience with patch management
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux (RHEL) system administration
  • Experience deploying applications
  • Experience installing and managing web servers and application servers (i.e. Apache HTTPD, Microsoft IIS, Apache Tomcat, etc.)
  • Experience working with Docker and Microservices architectures
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
    • Ability to effectively communicate IT system architectures and designs to customers, developers, system administrators, and technical supervisors
  • Experience with Git and creating software deployment pipelines
  • Experience with IP based networks to include and a complete understanding fo the OSI model
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot network related issues
  • Ability to meet DoD 8570.01m Cyber Workforce requirements within 6 months
  • Current active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to the customer facility


Preferred Skills and Education
  • Experience with DISA Security Technical Implementation (STIG) Guides
  • Experience writing and using Ansible playbooks
  • Experience with Atlassian Tools JIRA, Confluence, and Fisheye
  • Experience with managing NoSQL databases
  • Experience with supporting sysML modeling platforms
    • No Magic Teamwork Cloud
    • Cameo Systems Modeler
  • Experience with AWS or Azure
  • CompTIA Security+ or equivalent
