Role Summary

The Baker Hughes, Drilling andCompletion Fluids (DCF) Technology group is seeking a Research and Development Scientistto join our multidisciplinary team of scientists responsible for developmentand deployment of advanced chemical products and engineering solutions for oiland gas drilling industry. The candidate will be responsible for working inDrilling fluids Laboratory to support and managing multiple R&D projectsthat require new product development.

Essential Responsibilities:
    Plans and performs research, design and development, testing, troubleshooting, and problem solving in chemical research environment and applications support of larger projects or total projects of moderate complexity.Reviews and submits patents, publications in internal and external industry forums.Selects scientific methods and techniques to solve problems and makes sound recommendations. May assist technical support teams to solve the operational critical problems. Assesses results for applicability, validity and conformance to specifications.May assists in project planning and review

Qualifications/Requirements:

    Bachelor Degree in Scientific discipline – prefer Chemistry or Chemical Engineering – with 4+ years of lab testing drilling and completions fluids experience Master Degree in Scientific discipline – prefer Chemistry or Chemical Engineering – with 2+ years of lab testing drilling and completions fluids experience Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAdvanced analytical and problem solving skillsKnowledge of drilling fluid testing as per API standard
Desired Characteristics:
    Drilling Fluids related experience is a plusExperience in drilling fluids and/or completion fluids applications in a field/rig settingProduct development as per stage gate processKnowledge of formulating and testing of drilling fluids Familiarity with Baker Hughes Drilling and Completion Fluids products

    Occasional business travel required.
