The Sr. Manager Network Engineer is expected to assist the Director of Technology in defining an enterprise wide network strategy that aligns with the IT and Business strategy. This role is responsible for defining an effective strategy to manage EOL network software/hardware and ensure that the network performance meets the defined SLAs and performance metrics. This position is also responsible for evaluating the current retail, digital and corporate network environment and define the future state network.
Lead the Network team in evaluating the current network infrastructure to identify risks and opportunities for improvements and the development of a roadmap and remediation plan. Possesses an advanced level of knowledge for networking technology dealing with switches, routers, hands on troubleshooting skills, firewall best practices and configuration knowledge of IOS and TCP/IP protocols.
Additional responsibilities include:
Demonstrate hands-on knowledge of common networking technologies like Checkpoint, Cisco ASA & Fortigate Firewalls, F5s, Silverpeak, Arista, Juniper Pulse & switches, Meraki, Cisco (Nexus, catalyst, ACI, WLC) and Network Protocol Analyzer Tools.
Establish best practices and standards for troubleshoot and correcting end user and network connectivity issues.
Fully support and manage a VOIP infrastructure across corporate offices and the entire store estate (600+ stores).
Maintain excellent knowledge of: EIGRP, Data Encryption, IGMP, TCP/IP, and UDP. ETHERNET, VoIP, UNIX, L2 THROUGH L4 PRINCIPLES, SNMP, Net Management and Diagnostic tools.
Manage concurrent Network Services projects and ensure that project tasks and deliverables are completed on schedule/budget and meet the specified business requirements.
Maintain strategic relationships with vendors and their technical support personnel and ensure they deliver on their contractual obligations.
Responsible for managing the Network Services budget.
Maintain industry knowledge of building large data and voice networks.
Collaborate with Security team to monitor network hardware vulnerabilities and define action plans to remediate any gaps that present a risk to the business.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture team by providing feedback, suggestions, and recommendations on projects and technical evaluations.
Performs analysis of current designs, hardware and software for the core infrastructure and alerts management and team; proactively making the organization aware of needed modifications due to changes in technology or environment.
•Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Information Technology
•Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
•Practical experience in a retail or financial environment preferred
•Strong managerial competencies and practical leadership experience
•Presentation skills required
•Cisco Certification required (current CCNA certification or greater)
•Strong communications skills both written and verbal
•Strong interpersonal skills to be able to work with cross function teams
•Flexibility with one's availability to provide backup communication support dictated by business needs
•Minimum of 8 years experience working with complex, high available networks.
•Hands-on knowledge of common networking technologies like Checkpoint, Cisco ASA & Fortigate Firewalls, F5's
•Ability to provide leadership and mentor the network services team and be a member of the Architectural Review Board, Change Management Board and IT Steering Committee
•Extensive understanding and experience with Cisco networking environment.
•Experience working for retail company is a plus.
