Summary of Position:

The Nurse Manager has 24-hour responsibility for the management of an individual nursing unit. The Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the health care services in their unit to ensure the goals and objectives of the patients and family are performed consistently and in the highest quality and safety standards. The Manager contributes to the fiscal responsibility of the organization by developing the budget and maintaining operational budgets within set parameters. The Manager is responsible for oversite of employee performance, engagement and patient experience in their units.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of recent experience in the designated department or similar setting.
  • Minimum of five years of recent supervisory experience preferred.
  • Surgical leadership preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Select, mentor, motivate and direct the development and evaluation of staff.
  • Collaborate and participate with other healthcare leaders.
  • Participate and interpret policy and procedures in accordance with nursing standards, and all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in unit and system-wide assigned committees.
  • Collaborate with their dyad physician partner to meet the needs of the patient/family and unit.
  • Adopt and implement the innovative nursing practice.
  • Has the ability to communicate, (both verbal and written) in a non-punitive manner.
  • Self-directed, yet seeks guidance, direction, and assistance when needed.
  • Sets priorities, responds to issues and ensures what desired results are achieved by building consensus where possible.

Certifications/Licensure:

  • Current California license or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date.
  • Current ACLS, PALS and certifications prior to start date.
