POSITION SUMMARY

Assist Physical Therapist in the provision of care utilizing established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care. Services are provided based on the ages of the population served; Adolescent through geriatric - 65 years or older and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team. Demonstrates the skill necessary to meet the needs of all patients served through support of the mission of rehabilitation services; collects patient care data, reports findings, assist team to meet patient treatment goals.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

  • Associate degree from a school or college approved by the American Physical Therapy Association &/or passing score on the state certification exam.
  • Current California and Nevada Physical Therapy Assistant certification or ability to obtain Nevada Certification within 6 months of hire
  • Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date

Minimum Experience

  • Valid California or Nevada Driver's license (depending on state of employee's residence) or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Minimum two years recent experience as a physical therapy assistant preferred
  • Sufficient computer skills are required to complete an online application and the pre-employment annual required training requirements.
  • In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English; Bilingual abilities preferred

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking/sitting
  • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfer patients
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Exposure to stressful environments that may include communicating with difficult individuals in emotional situations
  • Contact with patients and guests under a wide variety of circumstances
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of blood borne diseases
  • Exposure to infections and contagious diseases
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, including the handling of emergency or crisis situations
  • Subject to pressure due to irregular hours, frequent interruptions and stressful situations due to multiple demands
