Description

Position Title: Monitor Technician

Essential Functions: Under the direction of the director and with the direct supervision of the Charge RN admits and discharges patients from the monitoring system; communicates cardiac rhythms to nursing when requested or when changes occur; prints and interprets rhythm strips, per policy. The monitor technician also maintains continuous monitoring for patients on cardiac telemetry; utilizes a high degree of critical thinking skills to both effectively and appropriately communicate, manage equipment, and alarm settings, per policy. Additional responsibilities include billing input for telemetry and/or other patient charges.

Educational Requirements / Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • BLS

Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required:

  • Basic 12 Lead EKG and Medical Terminology 1 & 2 (preferred)
  • Experience: 1 year experience preferred
    Other: Demonstrates competency course annually.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
