The Assistant Director of the Outpatient Behavioral Health Services reports to the Department Director and works collaboratively with the Medical Director for BHS. The individual is responsible for ensuring the quality of and access to care in the outpatient Behavioral Health Center. Assists in the development of programming and the daily operations of the Outpatient Mental Health Center which includes the Partial Hospitalization program, Intensive Outpatient Program and Recovery Center services. Direct reports will include staff nurses, medical assistants, administrative assistants, medical social workers, and program counselors.
The assistant director is responsible and accountable for assigned tasks such as supervising the department's daily operations, including but not limited to, being a resource and role model to staff for problem resolution with issues with patient care, service delivery, safety, supplies, equipment, computer software, and customer concerns.
The assistant director ensures staff have the appropriate orientation/training and competence for the care/service provided and that all staff adhere to Exceeding Expectations standards for professional conduct. This is achieved through supportive training, coaching, developing, evaluating staff performance, policy/procedure enforcement, and corrective action, if necessary.
The assistant director plays a major role in supporting quality initiatives through ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, collection and analysis of quality and performance improvement data, assisting with development of future performance improvement targets and quality initiatives, and development or revision of department policies and procedures, as needed.
The assistant director supports financial viability with attention on expenses, revenue, utilization and productivity in assigned cost centers, and tactical execution of Lean concepts.
Experience working with Behavioral Health patients preferred. Outpatient Clinical setting experience preferred. Prior manager/supervisory experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree in nursing is required or currently enrolled in formal BSN program or enrollment in courses that can be applied to completion of formal BSN program within six months of hire into the Assistant Director position. Must complete BSN within five years of hire.
State of CA RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. MOAB certification must be obtained within the first 6 months of hire.
