Responsibilities

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals is currently hiring Registered Nurses for a Perioperative 101 Program for Center City and South Philadelphia:

  • 9-12 month training program for the OR
  • accepting Registered Nurses interested in the OR
  • Must be willing to sign a 3 year committment (requires full repayment if you leave within 3 years)
  • Start Date: January 30, 2023
    • Save the date - preliminary interviews start with a Q&A to learn more about the Operating Room
    • 10/25/2022 2-3pm, or
    • 11/10/2022 3-4pm
    • (via Zoom - Link will be provided within 48 hours of the event)

Requirements:
  • must be a graduate from a BSN program
  • BLS
  • Must have PA Registered Nurse License

Expectations:
  • Evening Shifts: rotating will be required but primary shift will be on evenings
  • On Call will be required
  • Weekends and holidays will be required

The Operating Rooms are 24/7, so you'll have a primary shift, and then take on call for nights, weekends, and hoildays. On call committment will be discussed during the interview process.

The following ORs are hiring:
  • Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
  • Jefferson Methodist Hospital (2 miles south of Main Campus)
  • Jefferson Hospital of Neuroscience (2 blocks from Main Campus)
  • Jefferson Surgery Center (on Main Campus)

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH) consists of 34 Operating Rooms. Operating Room nurses assist in Orthopedics, ENT, Maxillofacial, Spine, Neuro, Hand, Cardiac, Vascular, Thoracic, Transplant, Urology, Gynecology, Plastics, and General.

Jefferson Methodist Hospital (JMH) is a 13-suite Operating Room (only 2 miles south of Center City hospital). OR Nurses assist in General, URO, GYN, Bariatrics, Robotics, Sports Medicine, Vascular, Spines, and Should, Elbow, and Hand Surgery.

Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience (JHN) is a 10-suite unit intended to meet the needs of surgical patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Surgical specialties include neurosurgery, ophthalmology, chronic pain management, otolaryngology, and plastic surgery.

Jefferson Surgery Center (JSC) is a hospital-based outpatient surgical center offering services including gynecological and breast procedures, orthopedic foot and ankle surgeries, general surgery and laparoscopic cases, as well as ENT and endoscopies. The facility is comprised of a pre-operative holding/admission area, 4 fully functioning operating rooms and a 2 phase recovery room/discharge lounge. The surgical center provides services to more than 4,000 patients each year. Nurses at JSC participate in shared governance and execute many daily decisions which impact patient flow and the delivery of high quality care.

For your first nursing job, if offered a position, you will be enrolled in the Jefferson Nurse Residency Program (in addition to the Periop 101):

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
