Responsibilities:
- Delivery of scientific innovation and strategy
- ED member of Covance Science Council
- Partners with Commercial Organization to deliver commercial success through science
- Identifies scientific innovation that will grow our business
- Leads proposals for major investments for both internal expansions and potential acquisitions
- Networks across Covance and LabCorp to harmonize scientific processes and investments
- Serves on client executive governance teams; interacting with clients at senior levels
- Develops global scientific team, ensuring scientists have required expertise and training
- Opportunity to lead teams, depending on the qualifications of the candidate
- Accountable for meeting financial targets
- Actively engaged in developing people including succession
Scientific Leadership for the following groups:
- Nonclinical Pharmacology
- Safety Assessment
- Genetic Toxicology
- Immunology and Immunotoxicology
- Early Development Cell and Gene Therapy
- Ocular
- Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology
Education/Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
- A PhD or DVM
- 20+ years industry experience
- 10+ years recent pharmaceutical company experience
Recommended:
- DABT or other scientific certification
- Broad toxicology and pharmacology expertise
- Drug development expertise, including discovery and in vitro
- Expertise in strategic planning for organic investments and acquisitions
- Experience in cutting edge innovation including in vitro evaluations of pharmacology and toxicology
- Experience developing biologics, including cell and gene therapy
- Experience with regulatory requirements and submissions
- Toxicology leadership of a 50+ people organization
- Extensive scientific and professional network
