The Director of Institutional Research supervises all institutional research activities and directs and manages data collection, compilation, analysis, and research activities. (S)he provides leadership and direction for the design, prioritization, and implementation of statistical analysis and research activities in support of assessments, program review and continuous quality improvements.

  • Develop and execute plans to support learning outcome assessments, program reviews, and institutional effectiveness activities

  • Ensure that meaningful, appropriate and accurate data and supporting documentation is available to meet the decision-making needs of each of the University's programs

  • Collect, interpret, analyze data, and make recommendations based on results for different activities and projects

  • Run appropriate statistical tests on data. Ensure reliability and validity of data

  • Produce appropriate reports regarding the achievement of program performance measures and student learning outcomes to appropriate parties

  • Support program and course review activities. Provide support to Executive Leadership team and University Deans with data, analyses and recommendations for program and course health reviews

  • Collaborate with the Director of Institutional effectiveness to develop, coordinate and publish annual data fact book

  • Research and recommend changes in institutional processes to improve data quality and accuracy

  • Compile, analyze and disseminate quantitative data on facets of the programs and related educational issues. Support and document the integration of the results of these reviews into decision-making and planning

  • Stay abreast of data needs related to accreditation

  • Evaluate the information needs of the colleges, and oversees the data to support institutional research and provide necessary information

  • Manage responses to ad-hoc requests for data and analyses

Education and Experience: Minimum

  • Doctorate preferred, Master's degree required in the social, psychological, or educational research field from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (or international equivalent)

  • Five or more years of experience in institutional research

  • Experience with data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting

  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research design and analysis

  • Knowledge of survey research, statistical techniques and assessment tools

  • Demonstrated expertise in institutional research

  • Understanding of methods of data management and analysis in a university environment

  • Experience with regional accreditation. Familiarity with accreditation standards and processes and ability to present data and articulate analyses to accreditors

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with faculty, administrative staff, and students

  • Ability to work independently, attend to multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

  • Experience with software applications, such as SPSS, Microsoft Excel and Access.
