Senior Director, Entertainment Experience
Position Summary:
Reporting to the SVP, Entertainment & Games Strategy, the Director, Entertainment Experience is responsible to advance, deliver and uphold the strategic vision and direction for the Dave & Buster's in-store entertainment experience.
Works closely with the SVP, Entertainment & Games Strategy in the planning, development and execution of future entertainment experiences for Dave & Buster's.
Under guidance of the SVP, Entertainment & Games Strategy, oversees the creation, development and execution of an annual calendar of entertainment experiences and programs.
Provides leadership, direction, guidance and development for store teams and ensures performance standards are met and exceptional guest experience is delivered in alignment with our brand.
Ensures highest level of in-store entertainment staff is sourced and developed to ensure our guests receive an elevated, accessible experience.
Forecasts and oversees operating budgets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates an extensive understanding of what's new in the entertainment industry to help create elevated programming that aligns with our brand. These experiences will a incorporate the creation of a compelling atmosphere, b drive regular visitation through recurring social and shareable experiences, and c generate incremental revenue through a series of highly visible one-off events.
Designs and manages an annual national entertainment calendar, encompassing sports viewing events, community events, interactive entertainment, seasonal programming concepts and themes and other exciting events that drive guest visitation and sales.
Forecasts and oversees management of operating budgets.
Builds an active partnership with all stores to aid in local programming development, including the creation of detailed guides and playbooks directing facility set up and operation for all programming events.
Leads conceptualization, development and execution of innovative entertainment experiences and activities including potential partnerships that keep our brand new and exciting while driving guest satisfaction and then sources, manages, schedules and develops top-level entertainment content.
Oversees systemwide entertainment broadcast strategy and programming operations including, but not limited to, channel strategy, internally produced content, and partner management. Researches, vets and leads RFP process for industry-leading partners and vendors to create new and innovative entertainment experiences for Dave & Buster's.
Partners with Marketing, Special Events, Food & Beverage R&D, IT, Purchasing, Operations and other departments to develop and execute entertainment experiences and to support campaigns and sales initiatives across the organization. Collaborates with Marketing to identify addressable communities, develop tailored programming and create compelling messaging strategies that will increase reach to those communities and drive visitation and spend. Ensures that all marketing vehicles, including Dave & Buster's web site and social media channels, accurately reflect in-store entertainment experiences. Collaborates with Legal and Finance teams to develop most cost-effective and favorable contracts for production, partnerships and vendors, ensuring any licensing requirements are met.
Sets standards, auditing tools and procedures to ensure highest level of guest satisfaction to meet and exceed ratings benchmarks. Reviews and audits in-store entertainment experiences and programs, offering guidance to ensure an elevated guest experience is offered and brand standards are being met. Evaluates program effectiveness and ensures successful programming and continuous improvement in ratings by monitoring guest feedback and customer demographics, preparing and analyzing event recaps, space utilization and revenue tracking reports for all programming and promotions, and generating action plan follow ups.
Performs other duties as required.
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or a minimum of seven 7 year's comparable work experience in an entertainment-related industry with an emphasis in developing and managing entertainment programs.
Expert knowledge of entertainment programming development process including, but not limited to, timeline creation and management, production and operating budget forecasting and management, negotiating, vendor/partner procurement and management, approval process management and rollout scheduling.
Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset, forward-thinker who acts with a sense of urgency and is on the pulse of trends within entertainment experiences.
Strong budget forecasting, tracking and management skills.
Proven track record of developing and launching successful large-scale entertainment experiences and programs within budget.
Excellent business communication skills both verbally and in writing; ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, analytics reports and legal documents.
Ability to write, and create comprehensive reports, presentations, RFPs, business correspondence and department policies and procedures.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from executive management, groups of managers, employees, staff and customers; Proficiency in PowerPoint and Microsoft Office software.
Ability to build and maintain successful business relationships throughout the department and the company, as well as with external vendors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.
Previous theatrical exhibition, cruise, hotel/resort, casino, or theme park experience, preferred.
