General Purpose of Job:
The Director of Development/Major Gifts for the Rio Grande Valley serves as a Foundation senior development executive of the Development Foundation responsible for growing a comprehensive development giving program for the Driscoll Health System in the Rio Grande Valley. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: oversight of all development/fundraising programs for the Rio Grande Valley with a specific focus on attracting major gifts in excess of $25,000 development of case for support and strategic planning; key identification and recruitment of community volunteer leaders and executing stewardship program of all gifts received.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5-7 years' direct work experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to use existing technology (Raiser's Edge) to achieve desired results. Successful experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors or an equivalent experience in sales and marketing of high dollar amount intangibles and services. Ability to make good decisions based on analysis wisdom, experience, and judgment. Ability to act independently or within a complexly structured team. Ability to work and communicate with a wide range of people, including the public, leadership, influential donors, prospects, and others.
Ability to design, implement, and direct fundraising initiatives, including individualized cultivation, solicitation and recognition strategies. Ability to work in high-visibility fast-paced environment. Proven ability to negotiate complex, high profile or sensitive agreements. Ability to communicate a compelling and inspired vision or sense of core purpose.

- Professional Certification - C.F.R.E. (Certified Fund Raising Executive) preferred
