Elwyn is seeking a motivated and energetic person to fulfill the role of Therapeutic Behavioral Support Lead in our Children's Behavioral Health program at the Smith Hall location on our Media Campus.

In this position you will provide direct support for an assigned group of children with autism, communication disorders or emotional behavioral disorders in the After School and T-Camp programs. Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, this individual will facilitate small therapeutic groups to work on peer solicitation, communication and behavioral treatment plan goals of each client. The individual will plan therapeutic lessons and activities that include administering positive behavioral supports and applied behavior analysis strategies. The staff will be trained in the implementation of their children's protocols and will receive direction with regard to the content of the groups they run. The staff will collaborate with team members including behavior specialists and families of the clients

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Behavioral Health Support Staff provides direct support for an assigned group of children throughout the program hours. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and the Behavioral Health Professional Consultant, this individual will facilitate small therapeutic groups and will administer positive reinforcement and sanctions for particular behaviors .

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Program Coordinator

CONTACTS: Other Program Staff, school personnel, parents/family members, MCO's and funding agencies, child welfare and other state and federal agencies, physicians / medical personnel, community members, specialists/consultants and other individuals as needed.

EDUCATION: Master's Degree preferred; Bachelor's Degree required in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, juvenile justice or other human service-related fields.

EXPERIENCE: One year of full-time paid work experience in a child serving system working directly with special children or adolescents.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Act 33 and 34 Clearances

TRAINING: Training in crisis intervention and behavior management; any other training required by specific cases; other training as necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Professional appearance; ability to keep pace with active children; no lifting restrictions. Challenging physical and behavioral aspects anticipated.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Challenging aspects.

HAZARDS: Possible, due to client behaviors .

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SUPPORT STAFF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Behavioral Health Support Staff provide direct care to an assigned group of children in the After School Program. The staff will be trained in the implementation of their children's protocols and will receive direction with regard to the content of the groups they run from the Program Coordinator and Behavioral Health Professional Consultant.

Specific Behavioral Health Support Staff services include crisis intervention techniques, immediate behavioral reinforcements, emotional support, time­structuring activities, time out strategies, passive restraints (when necessary), and any additional psychosocial rehabilitative activities as prescribed in the treatment plan. The Behavioral Health Support Staff have the following tasks:

1. Completion of daily progress notes for their assigned children.

2. Collaboration with other members of the child's treatment team and other professionals working with the child in the community and participation in the child's Inter-Agency Team Meeting when possible.

3. Support for the child's family members in the form of participation, when possible, in the child's weekly family sessions.
