POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Unit Manager will be responsible for all aspects of daily operations for the designated Residential Treatment Facility for Adults(RTF-A) unit including development of all clinical programming, hiring, evaluating, and disciplinary actions of staff, and interfacing with outside agencies and funding sources

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all aspects of the daily operation of the unit
  • Assist in development and implementation of the program model
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of all treatment plans and behavioral programming
  • Ensure all safety codes are followed and enforced
  • Conducts evaluations of incidents and fact finds as required
  • Provide program services in response to and respecting individual rights
  • Advocate for maximum social, academic, emotional, and vocational opportunities for residents
  • Evaluate services to determine their fit to needs of individuals served
  • Ensure appropriate personal and physical care of residents
  • Ensure proper management of securing financial entitlements for residents and Elwyn
  • Implement all procedures regarding record keeping for residents
  • Develop and nurture relationships with resident families
  • Develop and nurture relationships with outside social service agencies and funding sources
  • Ensure adherence to Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations
  • Participate in the developing plans of correction regarding licensure, certification, and other approvals
  • Monitor methods of ongoing quality assurance regarding compliance with all licensure, certification and other standards
  • Work closely with Director responding to program concerns
  • Actively participate in teams, committees, or special projects as directed by Director
  • Supervise work of program specialists and ensure appropriate inservice and training to all staff
  • Oversee all employee payroll data collection and submission
  • Oversee all employee scheduling
  • Assist with key personnel functions involving recruitment, hiring, discipline, and discharge practices and functions
  • Maintain program staff files regarding required training, disciplinary actions, commendations, evaluations, and any other pertinent information as required by regulation
  • Provide on-call services as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Natale Civil Unit

DIRECT REPORTS: Behavioral Health Program Specialists II, Certified Peer Specialists and ABS Specialists

CONTACTS: Residents, staff, funding sources, Department of Human Services (DHS), Social Security, social service agencies, Base Service Units, families, county representatives, and advocacy groups, legal system, courts, probation and parole

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human service field including but not limited to psychology, sociology, nursing, human services; Master's preferred
  • Five years' experience with in the mental health field.
  • Two years supervisory experience preferred
  • Certified Co-occurring Disorders Professional (CCDP) or Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) eligible status including two years' drug and alcohol counseling experience and/or forensic experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in clinical program design including individual and group therapy, vocational assessment, and the development and implementation of behavioral strategies.
  • Working knowledge of fiscal management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable DHS & HHS regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must be able to perform CPR and crisis intervention techniques using agency-trained protocols
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, 3 years driving experience, and acceptable driving record
