This role is responsible for the following:

  • Play an integral role in analyzing and improving Emerson digital platforms and business systems
  • Development of key performance indicators and dashboards for business and marketing use as well as recommend design, usability and information architecture based on insights from digital analytics
  • Work with internal and external experts in Digital Intelligence, Business Intelligence, and other teams (ex. Integrated Marketing, Sales Enablement, eCommerce, Lifecycle Services, etc)
  • Provides operational support in terms of documentation, training and administration

Duty 1: MRA & Project Support

 

Data Gathering

• Extracts/generates quantitative information from a single or multiple tools (Business Intelligence Tools - ie: Tableau, SQL, etc) and/or from databases using standard queries

• Communicates with resource person to get input/raw data needed for report generation

• Conducts research to gather qualitative information (market need, market size, ethnography, competitive product information, industry trends, and check product specifications) from internal & external sources that will be used for analysis

 

Data Manipulation

• Cleans extracted data using pre-defined guidelines or instructions

• Formats extracted data based on expected report output (with batching capability and multiple data formatting requirements)

• Calculates data using available fields within the gathered information (basic math and statistics)

• Categorizes and segments extracted data using tools to convert data to information relevant to the report (excel, macro, database)

• Consolidates and combines extracted data from multiple resources using automated tools (excel, macro, database), and/or from different system tools in one single database using queries (SQL, Tableau) standardize data structure from different data sources

 

Data Analysis

• Gathers and analyzes report requirements from stakeholders. Identify and provide solution to general inquiries

• Analyses gathered information & data using descriptive analytics (basic mathematics & comparative analysis), diagnostic analytics (root cause analysis, gap analysis), predictive and prescriptive analytics (data interpretation, data correlation & statistics)

• Analyzes stakeholder requirements from an existing report and provides improvement and recommendation based on customer request

• Evaluates objective/charter and recommends non-standard reports/ workaround based on customer requirement and/or gathered data and analysis

Reporting

• Creates reports based on standard templates and and/or tests dynamic reports based on the designed format

• Conceptualizes report design contents and methodologies based from gathered data and/or analysis for static or dynamic reports

• Provide report recommendations and validate with stakeholders

 

Administration

• Logs/Enters incidents to appropriate tool (JIRA, Web Request Form, Sharepoint, Teams)

• Tracks and logs customer issues

 

Continuous Process & Innovation

• Identifies continuous improvement project ideas

• Records and reviews/assesses the improvement/innovation raised by the business unit

• Escalates specific issues and provides recommendation to customers to address them. Works closely with counterparts/POCs to identify loopholes and process gaps

 

Project Initiation

• Attends scope reviews to learn what the project request is all about

• Assists project manager in gathering, analyzing and clarifying customer requirements; uses technical knowledge to gauge complexity of the request

 

Project Planning

• Performs research and analysis to validate if the detailed solution is the best fit to meet the requirements

• Creates prototypes, mock-ups using standard project templates and tools for projects without wireframes

• Provides own work estimates and can negotiate turnaround time within the team

• Informs the project lead on changes

• Creates project scope and timeline for dashboards. In case of differences, negotiate with clients for dashboards

• Reviews and assesses prototypes in terms of relevance and application to the requirements of the customers

• Analyzes risk and mitigate project circumstances base on impact assessment

• Recommends and negotiates solution and development timeline to the stakeholders; gets their buy-in and commitment to any deliverable

Project Execution

• Writes code based on specifications defined (ie frontend and backend); Participates in cross-functional testing and peer reviews

• Follows set coding standards, code sharing and design

guidelines of the team

• Shares only working codes with the teams.

• Reports own progress back to the project tracking tool

 

Project Testing and Deployment

• Sets up UAT (informing participants, scheduling, gathering results)

• Implements the necessary fix or improvement for basic functionalities based on the UAT results

• Creates user manuals using standard templates of the team

• Creates test cases, finalizes and/or approves to be used during UAT

• Finalizes and approves the test cases to be used during UAT

• Reviews the objective in comparison to the actual output

• Create, recommends and seek approval for UAT plan (data back-up/migration, communication, cut-offs, code freeze, production server setup)

 

Vendor Support

• Monitors the progress of the issues based on the timeline

• Monitors the progress of 3rd party suppliers, coordinates with stakeholders if there are issues and concerns

• Assesses/Rates contractors' performance based on specified criteria

 Implementation

• Performs import/export of records and/or data for validation

• Create workbooks/ dashboards, modify metadata, and finally publish a completed workbook or data source to Tableau Server

Duty 2: System Support and Maintenance

 

System Maintenance

• Implements the basic change request (dashboard enhancements, data source modifications)

• Implements the minor and/or major change request (dashboard enhancements, data source modifications)

• Recommends improvement on change request and processes

 

Database Maintenance

• Troubleshoots and fixes minor problems with the tool such as --- minor UI changes, typo errors, simple coding errors

 

Project Maintenance

• Troubleshoots minor and/or major bugs/defects and assists stakeholders in making sure issues/requests are resolved appropriately and on time (minor: UI fixes, raw data requests; advanced bug/defects: loss of data, server errors, logical errors, unexpected app behavior)

 

Maintenance & Upgrades

• Encodes new features or changes related to the system upgrade

• Creates and Sends maintenance announcements to end-users

• Monitors data transfer and load processes

• Monitors errors and data inconsistencies

• Controlling permissions for system contents such as data sources, workbooks, and views for data security.

• Gathers approval and validates completeness of the requirements

• Provides basic technical support on issues such as user contact, issue triage, user follow-up and communication

• Interprets BU/ Platform/ WA report requirements and cascade to action owner

• Maintains existing system functionality and capacity as needed based on identified issues and improvements

• Validates new features thru testing

• Troubleshoots business systems/web issues and relays them to other world areas and IT

• Propose and Implement Preventive action to avoid issue recurrence

Duty 4: Operations Support

 

Documented Information Management

• Creates technical documentation/user manual, data dictionary, database schema, etc.)

• Updates an existing Documented Information related documents and processes (e.g. procedures, forms, templates, manuals, articles, external documented information, etc.) based on the documentation guidelines (e.g. identification, description, format)

• Maintains the master list of documented information (e.g. procedures, forms, templates, manuals, articles, external documented information, etc.) for completeness and accuracy

• Identifies and controls the storage, retention, preservation and disposal of documented information.

• Create a new Documented Information related documents and processes (e.g. procedures, forms, templates, manuals, articles, external documented information, etc.) based on the documentation guidelines (e.g. identification, description, format)

 Training & Development

• Conducts basic and/or intermediate and comprehensive overview and awareness training on products, processes and/or business tools

Education: University degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or similar)

 

Job Related Experience: At least (3) three years' relevant work experience in the IT Business Systems processes with relevant experience in data mining, manipulation, analysis and reporting
