The Applied Mechanics (AM) and Reliability team provide laboratory, simulation, and reliability engineering services to ComRes business units. This position will focus on providing timely, value added and integrated solutions to complex engineering problems by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. A lead engineer will also demonstrate ability to diligently track and manage progress of the work by facilitating open dialog with a wide variety of contributors and stakeholders. Focus will be to increase customer experience through proactive customer engagement and operational excellent by using lean and perfect execution principles. This is an exciting opportunity to join deep technical engineering team working in a fast paced, innovative, and global environment with an objective of assuring that ComRes HVACR products are meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

As a Senior/Lead Engineer, You Will:

  • Collaborate with global AM lab, simulation, and reliability teams to lead integrated solutions for internal and external customers.
  • Complete assigned technical projects in in a timely manner by leveraging fundamental physics-of-failure approach, advanced engineering tools, and knowledge of product application.
  • Drive customer engagement to understand & manage business priorities. Utilize project management & lean tools to create schedules and deliver results.
  • Prepare engineering reports in a timely manner that summarize project, draw conclusions, and make data driven recommendations derived from engineering analysis of the work in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Effectively communicate project status to customers at various levels in the organization by preparing presentation of results.
  • Provide insight and recognize opportunities to focus knowledge or process development for TSQ departments.

Flexible Work Schedule – Remote Work Option and Core Hours

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week and a core hour schedule. You can choose to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent and 4+ years relevant experience.
  • Basic understanding of HVACR application, compressor design, computational modeling & simulation, durability, and reliability.
  • Proven track record of applying fundamental engineering principles and creative thinking to drive timely engineering decisions solving complex problems.
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships.
  • Proven computer skills including MS Words, excel, PowerPoint.

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Deep knowledge of compressor science, design, failure analysis, vibrations, statistics, engineering analysis, experimental stress analysis, wear & tribology.
  • Hands-on experience working with lab equipment, CAD modeling, FEA simulations, data analysis, and reliability assessment tools (WinSmith, Reliasoft).
  • Training and experience in Lean, six sigma and project management tools.
