Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The mission of the Department of Intelligence Studies, Geospatial Science, Political Science and History is to provide high-quality educational programs and services in these degree-granting programs and in Philosophy and Sustainability. A major goal of the department’s multi-disciplinary faculty is to help students develop key skills and foundational knowledge in the foregoing areas. By offering courses in realms ranging from critical thinking, the humanities, and social science to ethics, civic engagement,
environmental studies & sustainability, and global literacy, the departmental faculty strive to empower students with the skills and knowledge they will need to excel in their chosen professions and become effective twenty-first century global citizens. The department will endeavor through its internship programs and work closely with institutional partners, providing career pathways for all majors that will assure transition into meaningful jobs in their chosen field. Through teaching, research, and service, the Intelligence Studies, Geospatial Science, Political Science, and History faculty aim to promote the cultural, social, and economic well-being of the residents of the region and the nation .
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Department of Intelligence Studies, Geospatial Science, Political Science, and History offers a variety of bachelor’s degrees in Intelligence Studies, Geospatial Science, Political Science, and History.
Responsibilities of faculty include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, research, and service to the program, department, college, university, and the community. This is a tenure-track position for Fall 2020.Description of Work Continued:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate introductory and advanced geospatial/geography courses (e.g., Principles of Geography, World Regional Geography, Physical Geography, Ecological Biogeography, and GIS) and work with other faculty members to recruit students to the growth of the Geospatial Science degree program as well as the Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) certificate program, which has been accredited by the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF). Candidates must be capable of teaching face-to-face classes and providing web-based instruction. In addition to teaching, duties will include research and service to the program, department, college, university, and the community, especially participating in department, college, and university activities.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
To be eligible for the Assistant Professor position, the candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Geography, Geospatial technologies or closely related field. ABDs who expect to complete their doctorate before the start date are encouraged to apply.Knowledge skills and abilities: Preferred Qualifications:
