Position Summary:

Coordinate development activities across multiple suppliers.  Coordinate, validate, and analyze all Supplier Launch PPAP documentation.  Troubleshoot supplier quality issues.  Work with suppliers to drive cost reduction and quality improvement efforts. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with project team in US to ensure suppliers meet requirements.
  • Follow up and monitor the project development timeline with suppliers and ensure Safe Launch plans for key suppliers
  • Assist suppliers to plan the most robust process flow to meet high quality and throughput requirements
  • Identify and report suppliers' capability
  • Drive actions to develop best-in-class supply base and assist with New Supplier onboarding processes
  • Understand and validate suppliers OEE and reported capacity
  • Monitor and audit Supplier quality management systems (ISO, IATF, AS9100, etc)
  • Manage all Run @ Rates for all product launches, ensuring accuracy of process flow documentation
  • Conducts Supplier Assessments, reviews all supporting documentation, and responsible for closing out all identified open issues or audit findings.
  • Train Suppliers on PPAP elements and required documentation
  • Facilitate activities with suppliers to identify and evaluate the root cause of escalated quality issues, implement robust containment strategies, and improve process to avoid future discrepancies
  • Work with suppliers to improve overall quality ratings
  • Work with suppliers at the start of a project on DFM proposals to drive cost reduction and quality improvement efforts. Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

  • Ability to do the cost analysis by working with purchasing and engineering team to develop cost to design products.
  • Working knowledge of general process capabilities and limitations for above listed required skills.
  • Up to 60% of time travelling, domestic and international
  • Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials, and articulate goals and action plans.
  • Ability to merge cross cultures communication.
  • Ability to coordinate APQP procedure and PPAP documentation
  • In-depth understanding of at least three of the following six manufacturing processes: CNC precision machining; aluminum forging; magnesium die casting; surface finishing and paint; assembly troubleshooting; plastic injection molding.
  • Demonstrated success in objectively identifying process issues, isolating root cause, and coordinating resources to solve manufacturing and assembly issues.
  • Knowledge of 6sigma or 8D problem solving methodology.
  • Proficiency in GD&T, able to review Fox Factory drawings and engineering requirements.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering required

Experience: 

5+ years of relevant work experience as a Supplier Development Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, or in another engineering role responsible for developing, managing and improving supplier relationships, processes and efficiencies

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Office Environment

Ability to sit for long periods of time

Vision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer

Up to 60% international and domestic travel
