Job Summary and Qualifications

Evening Shift (3PM- 9PM)

The Licensed Clinical Therapist position provides group, individual and family therapy as well as organizing and directing treatment resources, discharge planning, patient progress, compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and assuring that related issues are effectively addressed and communicated to the patient, family and others involved in the treatment process. Must be physically able to provide patient crisis intervention. Provides family groups, group, individual and family therapy, performs psychosocial assessments, and is an active member of the admission/treatment/discharge team. Make assessments as needed for patients who are a possible threat to themselves or others, and perform the Baker Act for those who meet criteria for involuntary assessment.

  • Provides education to patient and significant others based upon learning needs identified in assessments.
  • Encourages involvement in decision-making and control of treatment and discharge plans.
  • Demonstrates accountability in completing assessments. Assessments are accurate and thorough. Information is gathered from patient, or family and other appropriate sources and considers developmental and treatment issues. Interview techniques are modified according to age group. Assessments are completed in required time frame.
  • Provides therapies individual, family sessions that are psychodynamic and educational. Facilitates groups and provides education materials specific to patient needs and age. Demonstrates accountability and responsibility for completion of assignments in a timely manner. Structures and maintains a therapeutic environment.
  • Assesses learning needs and barriers to learning of patient, and family, as appropriate. Plans and implements care and provides appropriate teaching.
  • Assesses and collaborates the patient's discharge based on assessments, response to treatment. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team in considering discharge. Allows for patient and family involvement in developing discharge plans. Coordinates and utilizes appropriate community resources. Assists in requesting needed financial services. Maintains good communication with referral sources.
  • Demonstrates accountability and responsibility in documenting in a timely manner. Documents according to hospital policies and procedures. Group and DAR notes are documented according to hospital policy and identify the patient's treatment, response to treatment, clinical, and discharge issues. Maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Documentation substantiates need for medical necessity for current level of care.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the DSM IV R and provides treatment appropriate to specific diagnosis.
  • Demonstrates awareness and respect to the patient, family and or significant other. Treats all patients with dignity considering cultural, ethnic, religious, physical, sexual and psychological needs. Advocates for patient's rights. Reports abuse as identified.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information of patients by adhering to State and HIPPA guidelines. Assures signed consents are completed before communicating with others.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, competency and adherence to Baker Act guidelines.
  • Aware of performance improvement indicators and works toward continual quality improvement.
  • Provides assessment of patients who are seen to be of harm to themselves or to others, and performs the Baker Act for those meeting criteria.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Master of Social Work (MSW)Required
  • 1+ years' experience or MSW internship
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCWS) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) required
  • Certification in Social Work preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred
