*Highland Hospital is seeking a Lead APP to join its Emergency Team. Candidates for this role will have both Clinical and Administrative responsibilities in Highland Hospital's Emergency Department. They will be added to the Day/Evening/Night/Weekend Rotation similar to other APP's in the Emergency Department.Some duties include but are not limited to:The Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner will work under the direct supervision of the Emergency Department Attending Physician. The PA/ NP will evaluate and treat the acute and non-acute medical, surgical, orthopedic, OB/ GYN, pediatric and psychiatric patients through appropriate history and physical examinations, radiology and laboratory data. In addition to clinical responsibilities see the administrative responsibilities as outlined.
- Education: Graduate of a CAHEA (Committee on Allied Health and Education Accreditation) PA approved program and certified by the approved organizations OR a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, and a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Masters degree preferred in related area of study.
- Experience: At least five years experience as a practicing Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with evaluation of urgent and non-urgent patients and two years administrative experience. Emergency Medicine experience required.
- License/Certification Required: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) OR possess a NYS RN license and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the NY State Board of Medicine. Prescription license and DEA required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
- Skills: The ability to work autonomously as a physician extender is required as is the ability to work well under stressful situations and attention to details. The ability to work well with staff on hospital projects as well as with other physicians.
