If you are seeking a fast-paced, challenging position on a unit committed to achieving and maintaining a standard of excellence in all we do, Evarts Joint Center on East 6 at Highland Hospital is the unit for you!The Evarts Joint Center is a 20-bed unit that specializes in caring for patients undergoing elective hip, knee, and shoulder replacements as well as patients with fractures.  At Highland Hospital's Evarts Joint Center on East 6, we are committed to providing our patients a continuum of care to support the transition from chronic joint pain to living with greater comfort, mobility, and independence.  Our nursing staff works closely with the Fellowship trained Orthopedic attendings, Orthopedic NP's and PA's, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers and home care nurses to ensure a high-quality standard of care.  Every staff member is key to our success!  We currently hold Advanced Joint Commission Certification in Total Hips and Total Knee Replacement.The Evarts Joint Center on East 6 can't wait for you to join our TEAM! 

Level I Registered Nurse (RN):


The Level I RN is a new Associate Degree (AD) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) who is completing the Nursing Practice Orientation Program at 6 months of clinical experience or less post licensure. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Level I nurse is accountable for provision of direct care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process. The Level I nurse supports peers in the delivery of patient care services in an organized manner prioritizing safety and team collaboration and communication. The Level 1 nurse contributes to unit activities that enhance patient care outcomes. Once the Level I nurse and the Nurse Manager completes the six month evaluation and determines if the nurse has met expectations of performance at the end of probationary period.  If all requirements are met, the nurse is advanced to Level II RN.



  • BS in Nursing preferred.  
  • Licensed by New York State to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare providers.
