*Highland Hospital is seeking a Per Diem, 8 hour a week Patient Registration Associate for its Medical Imaging Department.  Candidates for this role will work every Sunday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.Performs full range of duties related to processing patient information for visits. Maintains confidentiality of all patient accounts, appointments, medical records and inter-departmental issues. Focuses on displaying patient-family centered care, upholding the ICARE Values and Promise Standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Reception; patient registration following the protocol for proper registration in HBOC and Flowcast (making sure to check insurance eligibility and collecting any injury information in patient is claiming workers' compensation injury or motor vehicle accident; understanding the appropriate diagnostic radiology study that the patient will undergo and making sure the appropriate orders and codes are maintained; patient check in/check out; high volume of telephone calls involving triage of phone calls to the appropriate person/department; scheduling patients for appointments, tests, and procedures using hospital scheduling system with knowledge of proper scheduling times for procedure, prep time, and department requirements as well as providing patients accurate directions for them to understand; collecting demographic information; insurance verification and pre-verification; referring to financial counselor as needed; gather essential and accurate information from ordering providers while educating them of any changes due to insurance updates and department requirements; ensure orders sent from referring offices have all required information with proper signs and symptoms noted to make sure procedure is medically necessary;obtaining authorizations as needed; provide general information to patients and their families as previously established within the department guidelines; makes all necessary referrals; assist with the completion of various forms as requested by patients or staff; performs general billing related functions; respond to patient/insurance billing questions; assist patients with completing private-pay insurance forms as capable.Comply with HIPAA regulations.Commute and interact with patients, family and staff in a professional and respectful manner.


  1. Education: High school diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience:  Two (2) years previous office experience; medical office experience preferred.
  3. License/Certification Required:  n/a
  4. Skills:  Ability to use various hospital information systems (which may include HBOC, IDX, Imagecast, eRecord, CIS, Raintree, Quicklink, PC Easy, etc.); Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel experience is highly recommended; ICD9/CPT coding is desirable.
