Medical coverage inthe ICU, evaluation & management of intensive care unit patients covered bythe critical care team. The ICU PA/NP (provider) reports to the ICU MedicalDirector for clinical and administrative issues pertaining to the ICU. For broader administrative issues the Chiefof Medicine should be consulted. Theattending critical care physician on service is available for consultationregarding specific patient related problems. The attending of record should be informed of any significant change ina patient's clinical status.
1.Education: Graduate of an approved PAor NP program and nationally certified by the National Board of MedicalExaminers.
2.Experience: Two to five years in-patient or ICU orcritical care PA/NP experience. Demonstrated autonomy and competency managing critically ill patientsand excellent problem solving ability. Able to independently perform someinvasive procedures. Demonstratedleadership experience in coordinating clinical services for acutely illpatients.
3. License/CertificationRequired: ACLS certified. Stroke Certification required within one year ofhire.
4. Skills: Proficiency in central venous and arterial access. Management andresuscitation of unstable patients. Management of respiratory failure includingproficiency with standard modes of mechanical ventilation.
