Join the hospital trusted by Chicago's Southland, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, in this role as an Infection Preventionist, RN.

 

The Infection Preventionist, under the direction and supervision of the Director Of Quality/Infection Control, is an RN that will be responsive for assisting ICC with the delivery of infection control services within the hospital as well as providing educational programs for patients, families, staff and other health care professionals.  The Infection preventionist functions in the role of practitioner, educator, and consultant.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Observes and adheres to all corporate compliance requirements and communicates issues as they arise to the appropriate parties as identified in the Corporate Compliance Plan

  • Nursing duties as manager/director sees fit
  • Treats all hospital and department business as confidential in both verbal and written communication
  • Participates in the department's infection surveillance efforts as appropriate; collaborates with others in problem-solving, recommending, implementing, and evaluating new policies, program revisions, or system changes within the department to enhance customer services
  • Ensures infection control program is operated in accordance with accreditation and other standards
  • Disseminates information to staff and public regarding infection control measures
  • Provides infection control orientation to new employees and other personnel so that the program is not compromised by lack of information

 

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved accredited school of nursing and has current RN licensure in the State of Illinois
  • Graduate in the field of Microbiology, Infection Control certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of general hospital nursing or microbiology Lab experience
  • Minimum of one year of infection control experience
  • Excellent communication skills
