Your role in helping us shape the future:

The Principal Regulatory Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementing Intelsat's spectrum strategy in Regions 1 and 3as needed, and liaising with European and African regional groups (e.g. SADC, EACO, ECOWAS, ECCAS) in order to ensure the overall spectrum objectives are met. You will be part of Intelsat's efforts in preparation and participation at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Working Party Meetings and related World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC) meetings.  You will play a key role in defending and promoting Intelsat's frequency spectrum activities.  You will be responsible for preparing contributions, participate, and lead in meetings within Regions 1 and 3, and in particular the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) and other regional regulatory bodies to ensure that regulations applicable to the spectrum use are favorable to Intelsat satellites. Further, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and provide spectrum advice on various topics, including satellite design and evolution of new technologies.  

 

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Frame and organize technical/regulatory documents  for Intelsat's responses to ATU Task Groups [Region 1] --or other groups as necessary-- activitiesand consultations from other administrations in collaboration with Intelsat Regulatory Affairs team.
  • Produce and aanage technical/regulatory contributions to ITU Working Parties and other regional organizations in alignment with Intelsat's objectives.  Represent Intelsat at these meetings and present and defend contributions. 
  • Conduct technical analyses for intersystem coordination and actively participate when required in operator to operator and administration coordination meetings.
  • Provide technical and regulatory analysis for internal stakeholders to support on-going Intelsat projects.

 

Can you drive these processes? –

  • Advise Intelsat Regulatory Affairs on ITU, CEPT, ATU and ASMG market access projects.
  • Develop road map to meet Intelsat objectives in ITU forums.
  • Respond to internal stakeholders regarding ITU spectrum related technical/regulatory matters.
  • Support other spectrum team members including in the earth station and space station application process.

 

You should definitely have:

  • Four-year University Engineering degree
  • RF Engineering experience
  • Extensive knowledge of CEPT ECC decisions and ITU Radio Regulations
  • Effective English language verbal and written communication skills
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate agreement during challenging conversations

 

It would be nice if you had:

  • Knowledge of commercial satellite industry
  • Advanced degree
  • Fluency in a second language
