One of the leading companies in the Houston non-profit organization is looking for a Bilingual Receptionist. Bilingual in Spanish is Required. Location is in Houston, TX 77006. This position is temporary to permanent (depending on skillset). Schedule is Monday through Friday form 8 AM to 5 PM.

 

Job Title: Bilingual Support Services Receptionist

Shift: 1st

Duration: Temp-to-Perm

Pay Rate: $14.00

Hours and Work Week: Monday -Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Overtime can be required

                                    Weekends may be required; Must be flexible

JOB SUMMARY

The Bilingual Receptionist/Cashier is responsible for receiving clients, in-person and by telephone, and directing them to the proper program, as well as for handling cashier and mailroom duties.

The successful candidate will handle the following essential job duties, meet the minimum education, skills and experience requirements. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

85%     Operates switchboard functions of computerized telephone system, recording and selecting outgoing messages, taking messages and facilitating communications between staff members.  Assesses calls and transfers calls to appropriate program or staff members. Greets clients and visitors directing them accurately to staff members. Assures that all clients and visitors sign in and provide them with a visitor badge. Requires contact with staff, clients, volunteers and general public by telephone or in-person. Opens and distributes daily mail. Stamps out-going mail.

10%     Collects and accounts for programs service fees, collecting in-kind and monetary contributions. Assists with processing the safe contents. Accepts all packages from FedEx/UPS etc. and delivers to appropriate recipient. Monitors UPS/Fed Ex log book to ensure all information is legible and accounts codes are provided for shipments. Provides backup for Support Services Assistants as needed. Contacts Building Services and/or Support Services regarding needing assistance with donations, room set-ups, deposits, or any facility maintenance. Responsible for sorting, valuing and packaging donations for distribution according to target goals for the vendors and/or the Distribution Center.  Supervise volunteer groups and assist program staff in the selection of product as needed.

5%       Performs other duties as assigned by the Purchasing and Support Services Director, Support Services Manager and/or team Coordinators, including but not limited to: data entry, file scanning, helping with various mailings, assisting other departments, etc. Assists with special organizational projects/events.    

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma/GED equivalency or equivalent work experience.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.  
  • Two years' experience on computerized telephone system required.
  • Demonstrated success in dealing with diverse people effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a polite, respectable demeanor at all times and in stressful situations.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Professional appearance.
  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities and multi-task.
  • Ability to operate computerized telephone system, computer, multifunctional printers, fax machines, copiers, and credit card terminal.

  • I have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver's license and a valid vehicle insurance
  • I understand the position may require driving in personal vehicle and/or Agency vehicle to include freeways and highways to satellite offices, job fairs, and offsite meetings and events, throughout the 10 counties serves from Galveston to Richmond and surrounding towns as needed.  
  • I understand I must be able to work on a flexible schedule as needed to meet work, program and project deadlines.

Work is carried out in a controlled, agreeable environment as generally represented by normal office conditions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

      Ability to sit for long periods of time. Occasional standing, lifting, stooping, reaching, and bending.

 

MENTAL AND APTITUDE REQUIREMENTS

Job requires excellent communication skills to communicate clearly, good analytical, conceptual, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
