Our client (medical devices, eyecare) is currently hiring a Systems/ Controls Engineer to provide controls/systems support to automated medical device manufacturing equipment in a 24x7 operation.
Provide specific, yet flexible, technical support of the 24x7 fabrication of medical devices; develop and implement integrated, state-of-the-art equipment and control systems for medical device manufacturing platforms; to identify and support product quality and cost improvement initiatives; drive continual improvement of existing technologies; and support the achievement of optimal performance within existing operations.
Concentrate on equipment and automation control system reliability and obsolescence mitigation.
Develop and implement technologies and systems to reduce cost and improve quality of existing systems supporting medical device manufacturing.
Assist in troubleshooting/diagnosing equipment, PLC/HMI control systems software, peripheral controls and hardware issues.
Interface with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, IT, and Operations to successfully implement and qualify integrated equipment and automated controls systems.
Identify and execute engineering changes and perform equipment qualifications. Including creation of the protocol, identification of test requirements, analysis and presentation of results, and creation of the final report, in accordance with internal procedures and external regulations.
Effectively plan work activities and communicate project activity status.
Provide engineering support to all Manufacturing groups to ensure that production requirements are satisfied.
BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Systems Engineering preferred. Other disciplines may be considered with appropriate training and/or professional experience.
7-10 years experience, in a engineering/technical capacity.
Prefer experiences with automation and/or machine control systems including PLCs, servos/motion control, machine vision, bar code readers, and control systems software.
Experience with equipment build, process automation, and shop floor control systems is a plus.
High aptitude for problem solving.
Excellent troubleshooting skills of complex automated systems.
Oral and written communication, project management, and organization skills are required.
Attention to detail, excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment are essential.
cGMP and Medical device manufacturing experience is a plus.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is considered a plus.
