Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join its Toxicology department in Burlington, NC! The toxicology department is a large, high volume testing lab that consists of 4 sub departments: toxicology, biological monitoring, blood lead and mass spec. Our toxicology tests are primarily focused on therapeutic drug monitoring, our biological monitoring tests focus on metal or chemical exposures and our mass spec department is our most rapidly growing area and encompasses testing from several disciplines from toxicology to endocrinology.

Assays performed in the in our department utilize a variety of scientific techniques including non-automated and automated procedures. This position will be primarily in the immunosuppressant extraction area, will require instrument prep, data review of assays, and perform STAT coverage. Open to entry level and senior level technologist candidates. This is great entry level opportunity - no previous experience required! 

The work schedule for this position will be 3rd shift (Monday-Friday 10pm-6:30am) 15% shift differential offered!

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or other related science (or 24 credits in Chemistry/Biology constituting a biological science major) as required by CLIA
  • No previous experience required for Technologist Trainee level 
  • 1 year of clinical lab experience required at Technologist level
  • Ability to work independently within a team and strong attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills
  • Must be flexible with time and adaptable to change.
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
  • Ability to work overtime as business needs
