Works as a productive member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, and utilizes appropriate diagnostic and treatment techniques in order to provide direct care for patients of all ages with speech, language, cognitive and/or swallowing deficits in accordance with ASHA's generally accepted scope of practice. Provides education and support to patients and families regarding diagnosis and treatment. Reports the status of patients through appropriate documentation and verbal communication procedures. Maintains departmental equipment and assists in requesting new equipment. Performs a leadership role in clinical practice, providing guidance to fellow clinicians and students. Is actively involved in planning staff education activities, and performs community outreach programs to promote and increase awareness of the professional field.

1. Promotes Lakeland Regional Health System philosophy to ensure quality care and guest relations. 2. Evaluates the speech, language, cognitive and/or swallowing status as appropriate, as well as screens the hearing of patients who are referred for Speech-Language Pathology services, and determines an appropriate diagnosis. 3. Administers appropriate treatment to patients within the scope of practice of Speech-Language Pathology and departmental guidelines. 4. Maintains and completes accurate documentation of patient and departmental records. 5. Assures an appropriate continuum of patient care through effective communication procedures. 6. Maintains commitment to professional competency and growth. 7. Contributes to the efficient and productive operation of the assigned department. 8. Promotes clinical specialty area. 9. Committed to the continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service. Requirements

Masters: Speech-Language Pathology (Required)

Certifications:

*Speech Language Pathologist License - State of Michigan, BCLS Certification - AHA

Additionally, the clinician must be able to identify limitations in own clinical knowledge, and seek guidance as appropriate.
• Abilities: Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, various locations, sometimes on short notice.
• Environmental Conditions: Potential exposure to fumes, dust, gases, and odors. Frequent changes in temperature may occur. Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases.
