Job Description Summary: Performs work throughout the plant facilities installing, servicing, repairing, and calibrating, various electrical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems and instrumentation. Advises supervisory personnel on maintenance requirements, repairs equipment, and performs maintenance activities that sustains equipment reliability to maximize plant production and uptime. Must be available to work any day of the week and available to work any shift as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned.
Perform all duties in a safe, responsible and professional manner; comply with all company policies and safety rules. Assures that safe work practices are being followed in all work groups, and actively participates in safety programs.
Assures the continuing operation of the plant instrumentation and control systems by periodic corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance, including the cleaning and inspection of equipment to sustain equipment reliability. Must maintain a high level of knowledge of process control principles and their application to the plant's process control strategy.
Assures that we sustain equipment reliability with the proper level of key spare parts maintained in Stores.
Assures that the control circuits are correctly installed according to the National Electrical Code.
Must be able to read and write programs and schematics; able to troubleshoot PLC's and control circuits throughout the plant without direct supervision.
Must know and be able to follow the National Electrical Code (NEC) in work performed throughout the plant.
Must be able to install and maintain new electrical components such as: Motor Control Centers (MCC), bus duct and conduit with little supervision.
Operate equipment to demonstrate proper use or to analyze malfunctions. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, relays, switches, sensors and other devices.
Contributes to the modernization of the plant instrumentation and control systems by assisting in planning and developing equipment changes.
Contributes to the training of fellow maintenance personnel by assisting in troubleshooting on the job and in training on new control systems.
Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
Performs and documents troubleshooting of electrical systems, electrical distribution systems, power panels, motor starters and control circuits to diagnose malfunctions.
Must be able to resolve instrumentation/electrical issues using test equipment or software and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.
Examines parts to detect imperfections, identify reason for failure, and to take corrective action.
Evaluates equipment for performance, performs adjustments, etc., as needed to assure sustained optimal equipment performance and the production of quality potato products.
Performs non-routine maintenance jobs assigned by electrical maintenance Lead, Maintenance Team Leader, Team Leader Production, or Plant Management and will perform repairs with minimal supervision.
Must possess a high level of positive interpersonal skills in dealing with others and function as a team player.
Maintain 5S standards, (Sort, Set, Systematize, Shine and Sustain). Keep a neat, clean, orderly work area.
Maintain cleanliness of Instrumentation/Electrical work areas and equipment on a continuous basis and with professional workmanship.
Follows instruction given in work logs, equipment manuals, etc.
Repair or assist in repairs in other areas of the plant as instructed by the maintenance lead, Supervision or Management.
Assist with the coaching of new employees in the proper and safest way to repair equipment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Two year certificate in Instrument/Electronics (Associates Degree) from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education, certifications, licenses and related experience and/or training. Six months to one year in a related position with an equivalent combination of appropriate education, experience, and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills, and ability.

While performing the duties of this job with personal protective equipment, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
