Overview:

Expert clinician with CDI/coding background who works in partnership with multidisciplinary teams, including CDI/Coding, quality, senior leadership, clinical leadership & medical staff to improve the accuracy and quality of the ambulatory medical record documentation. Maintains clinical and professional competencies for subject matter expertise in ambulatory coding & clinical documentation integrity concepts. Develops and conducts medical staff education regarding accurate risk-adjustment documentation of HCCs and professional fee documentation and coding.

Job Qualifications:

• Conducts select comprehensive reviews of professional fee - and HCC-related clinical documentation and coding and uses data to address provider professional fee opportunities and issues.

• Intervenes with providers and/or leadership as needed in any cases or issues escalated from CDI or Coding teams. Provides associated targeted educational feedback to provider, provider champions, and/or leadership.

• Serves as a liaison between CDI and Coding departments and providers, departments, divisions andleadership.

• Assists in configuring, developing, and customizing EHR and AI/CAPD software for clinicians.

• As a subject matter expert, facilitates, develops, and provides education to providers, departments, residents, network leadership, and CDI and Coding teams on accurate and complete clinical documentation for professional fee and risk-adjustment/ value-based care. This includes education for E/M (Evaluation and management) leveling, accurate use of CPT codes, accurate HCC capture/risk-adjustment, accurate quality metrics, recovery auditor tactics, and ICD-10 Coding guidelines.

• Doctorate MD/DO

Licenses

• MD/DO Upon Hire

Certifications

• CCDS-O within 2 Years

Experience

• 5 years CDI or Coding Physician Advisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Required

• Strong understanding of risk-adjustment documentation and coding concepts and methodologies.
• Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills
• Knowledge of Pro fee E/M documentation and coding requirements
• Word and PPT experience
• Experience using EPIC
