Sterile Processing - (Full time, Day shift) -

The Supervisor-Sterile Processing supervises sterile processing technicians as they prepare instruments and equipment for sterilization. Prepares monthly staffing schedule and adjusts staffing to meet the needs of the day. Orients new employees and evaluates their performance. Conducts and assists with educational opportunities for staff members. Ensures areas of responsibility comply with requirements of planning, regulatory, inspecting agencies and Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta (LLUMC-Murrieta) policies, e.g., Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoP), Department of Health Services (DHS) and Joint Commission, Association of Operating, Room Nurses (AORN), Association for Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). Develops implements and maintains a department-specific performance improvement and patient safety program utilizing tools such as the Six Sigma framework of define, measure, analyze, implement and control. Initiates and follows through on disciplinary action in consultation with Director and People Services when deems appropriate. Mentors and coaches unlicensed staff in transforming culture, processes and clinical practice to meet the demands of cutting-edge sterile processing. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of one year of experience in Central Service required. Minimum of one year of supervisory experience preferred. Current Central Service Technician Certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
Able to read; write legibly; speak with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; operate and troubleshoot patient care equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; follow directions; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; collaborate with charge nurses to problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; function within scope of practice. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
