Mastercard is a global technology company in the payments industry. Our mission is to connect and power an inclusive, digital economy that benefits everyone, everywhere by making transactions safe, simple, smart, and accessible. Our decency quotient, or DQ, drives our culture and everything we do inside and outside of our company. With connections across more than 210 countries and territories, we are building a sustainable world that unlocks priceless possibilities for all.

Our team's mission is to make payments easy, fast and as secure as possible. That's why we've developed technology that enables mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Garmin Pay, etc.) and secure, tokenized remote commerce payments. We call the set of services delivering this "MDES”. We've experienced incredible success and growth, with 10s of billions of transactions being processed each year, however now we are focusing on ensuring the success continues as we scale MDES even further.

We are looking for new team members with high experience in building innovative, efficient, highly scalable and secure applications and services with a focus on enhancing and expanding our use of cryptography both on-prem and in the public cloud. Passion, motivation and constant hunger to learn new skills and technologies are key factors to join our team and contribute to build very exciting services. Your contribution will not be limited to the implementation as you will also contribute and have impact on the design and architecture of the solutions.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Cryptography team you will:

- build automated pipelines for code development, testing and deployment into lower environments in order to continuously and rapidly deliver new features
- contribute to the design and architecture of new features focused on achieving positive customer outcomes, customer journeys and customer experience
- provide technical leadership within a small collaborative team of product managers and software engineers
- have good communication within the team as well as with external stakeholders with the ability to present complex topics to a non-technical audience
- apply best practices from previous industry experience, whilst adhering to our own engineering principles of writing high quality, secure code that is modular, functional and testable
- take true ownership and responsibility for your software and its maintenance characteristics, runtime properties and dependencies
- support production deployment, system maintenance and operations of the applications, even when things do not go as expected or incidents occur; responding to incidents as a member of the on-call support team
- identify incident root cause and ensure the remediation of issues
- drive ongoing, measurable improvements to the maintenance, operational and runtime characteristics of your team's software
- provide feedback on peer designs, code, tests and automations, providing optimization and simplification recommendations
