Pharmaceutical Wet Chemistry is a pivotal team in RSSL: with exponentially increasing client demand, it's our biggest area of expansion growing 30% from September 2018 to September 2019. Joining this team will allow you to do truly vital work analysing the raw materials that go into medicines, so they can reach patients that need them.

The Wet Chemistry Technical Lead is one of RSSL's foremost subject matter experts, utilising a depth of chemistry knowledge gained from extensive industry experience built on top of a thorough theoretical chemistry understanding to direct technical strategy, problem solve and mentor within the RSSL Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory. The position is designed to focus entirely on technical expertise in lieu of people management responsibility and as one of the most senior members of the team it reports directly into the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Section Manager.

You'll ensure that scientific integrity and GMP quality is maintained during the routine and complex pharmaceutical testing of  pharmaceutical raw materials and method verification using wet chemistry techniques in accordance with pharmacopoeia or client methods

How you will contribute

You will provide expert technical and scientific direction and manage a portfolio of projects or a technically complex project within your technical area of expertise, ensuring effective and accurate performance that is delivered on time and to required quality standards. You will also ensure that the data produced and used by project teams are of the highest quality and are carried out safely and in compliance with industry laboratory standards. This role will require you to execute, review and approve scientific data, protocols and reports, and to authorize competencies within your area of expertise. You will apply your influencing skills to educate stakeholders regarding technical data risks, ensuring clear communication and understanding to allow for decision making. This role demands that you demonstrate your own technical accuracy and expertise and that of your project team by leveraging internal and external resources, continuously identifying opportunities for improvement and being aware of latest relevant best practices. As a people leader, you will advocate for your area of technical expertise, and mentor and coach the technical community to grow their capabilities to support their career development.
