  • Job Summary
    • Under the direction of the Manager of Security participates in managing the dailyoperations of the Security Department, including leading, managing and motivating allSecurity Supervisors, Lead Officers, and assigned staff. As designated by Leadership willrepresent MMMC at corporate or community meetings as needed.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education/Training
      • High School Diploma or equivalent
      • Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred
    •  
    • Experience
      • 3 years of experience in security or law enforcement
      • Prior security experience in a healthcare environment is preferred
      • Lead Officer or Supervisor experience
    •  
    • License/Certification/Registration
      • SPO Certification required within 6 months of hire.
      • Baton and use of handcuff Basic Course Certification and in-service training inmanaging aggressive/violent patient behavior
      • Complete Emergency Management Training
      • Active Driver's license is required.

      • Ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers

  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities
    • Supervision: Provides oversight and support to security staff to ensure asafe and efficient working environment.
      • Establishes performance goals for security staff.
      • Reviews and evaluates work performance, as well as, participates in midyearand annual evaluations of security staff.
      • Provides orientation for new employees in the department.
      • Ensures subordinates are following department policies and procedures
      • Assesses policies for direct subordinates.
      • Continually maintains updated information for orientation of new employees.
      • Conducts in-service training for all security officers on subjects includingsecurity regulations and procedures, maintenance of equipment, patrols,and customer service.
      • Conducts orientation and in-service training programs for all new associatesas needed.
      • Makes periodic reviews of existing schedules, practices, and policies
      • Recommends changes to ensure efficient and cost effective use of suppliesand equipment.
      • Maintains staff schedules per payroll period, tracking and documenting timeand attendance.
      • Oversees the tasks assigned to each officer to ensure that all work iscompleted on an ongoing basis
      • Performs periodic audits of daily work, such as rounding, parking control,etc
      • Reviews and completes time cards for accuracy and completeness.
      • Participates in the interviewing and hiring of security officers.
      • Provides counseling and implements disciplinary actions, if needed.
      • Terminates employees when necessary.
      • Participates in the adjustment of employee grievances.
      • Provides education to all employees regarding security issues.
      • Works on special projects and committees at the request of the Manager.
      • Prepares for The Joint Commission inspection.
      • Assists the Manager as a resource to the Emergency PreparednessCommittee.
      • Keeps Manager apprised of security issues and progress
      • Ensures all required licensure, to include: Driver's License, SPO,maintenance contract and equipment, trainings and annual mandatories areup to date.
    • Security Maintenance: Oversees and implements measures to ensure thesafety and security of the MMMC campus.
      • Patrols all interior and exterior areas of MMMC owned and leasedproperties while operating an MMMC vehicle.
      • Assesses and evaluates the activities on the shift and makes appropriatedecisions as required by the circumstances.
      • Provides response/resolution to emergency situations such as violence, fire,theft and emergency preparedness codes.
      • Effectively resolves confrontational situations, including subduing, detaining,and arresting unruly and/or dangerous persons on hospital premises
      • Effectively diffuses situations.
      • Responds to patient complaints to ensure patient satisfaction. Investigatesand makes recommendations for resolution.
      • Maintains civil custody of emergency psychiatric patients deemed“imminently dangerous to self or others” including searching such patientsfor dangerous items.
      • Locks/unlocks doors/alarms to provide access control for staff and visitorsthroughout the campus.
      • Provides timely response to all service calls for Security.
      • Enforces applicable laws' and Security/Safety related hospital policies
      • Maintains daily written reports of shift activities, patient contacts, andunusual incidents.
      • Maintains a safe/secured landing zone for helicopter transport of patients.
      • Consults with and seeks administrative approval from the Manager andother lead officers as required by the circumstances.
    • Support: Acts as a resource to hospital staff and visitors with regard tocrime prevention.

      • Maintains positive customer relations.
      • Provides escorts on request for staff and visitors to parking areas or otherlocations on campus.
      • Provides vehicle jump starts and assists with disabled vehicle resolution
      • Provides custody/transfer/storage of MMMC bank deposits, Pt.valuables/payments and found property.
    • Development: Participates in identifying learning needs.
      • When learning needs are identified, participates in training and developmentactivities.
      • Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by thedepartment.
      • Completes all mandatory requirements within allotted timeframe forcompletion (License, PPD, Competencies, etc.)
    • Organizational knowledge: Works effectively within and betweendepartments.
      • Participates in departmental projects
      • Participates in interdepartmental activities when asked
      • Participates in interdepartmental committees in the absence of the Manager
      • Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions
