Occupational Therapy assists in developing, improving or restoring independence to any person who has an injury, illness, disability or psychological dysfunction.   Job Duties

• Communicates to Occupational Therapist any change in patient status or need to change /update goals
• Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department team inter and intra departmentally to facilitates the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
• Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
• Follows exposure control plans/blood-borne and airborne pathogens
• Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards.
• Maintains and enhances personal knowledge as well as promoting professional standards in occupational therapy.
• Completes all required paperwork following policies and procedures to ensure that documentation reflects care [provided and the outcomes achieved, as evidenced in the clinical record
• Coordinates client care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal client care and communications evidenced in the clinical record.
• Under the supervision of an occupational therapist, provides occupational services reassessing the client's status on each visit, and ensuring quality of care as evidenced in the clinical record.

• Demonstrates ability to function independently.
• Demonstrates tolerance of home environment and diverse lifestyle of patient/family.
• Scheduling patient visits per regulation.

• Good interpersonal relationships
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient use of computer – ability to type

• Experience Required

• N/A

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure from state of Iowa, required.
• Current and valid driver's license, own transportation and automobile insurance.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required.  Employee must submit certification of completed training prior to start or transfer date.
