
Description
This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by performing coordination activities related to patient scheduling and performing tasks and support functions under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Job Duties
- Limited assistance during patient transfers
- Promotes a positive and professional image, collaborates with healthcare team including physicians, nurses and discharge planners
- Navigates the electronic medical record efficiently, orders procedures and locates documentation as necessary
- Receives and directs visitors within the department as indicated
- Organizes and prioritizes daily work effectively
- Implement changes and assists with revisions on patient orders and requests
- Completes data entry from procedural records in an accurate and timely fashion
- Coordinates scheduling patients
- Receives and handles telephone communications accurately and timely
- Coordinates scheduling for needed areas
- Calls in staff for emergency cases as indicated
- Refer conflicts and procedural questions to Administrator/Nursing Supervisors
- Responds to real/potential problems based on urgency related to patient needs
- Reviews and updates visiting clinician schedules
- Utilizes computer system to run requested reports Nursing Supervisors, Administration and clinical staff, as needed
- Role models exemplary customer service skills both verbally and non-verbally in person and on the phone.
- Creates welcoming environment for all healthcare team members
- Remains focused in stressful situations and performs multiple tasks quickly
- Handles multiple priorities in a distracting environment
- Ability to work in proximity to others
- Manages anger/fear/hostility
- Two years of health care and/or secretarial experience preferred
- Strong computer skills required
- High School Diploma Required
- Medical Assisting Diploma, Associate of Applied Science Degree preferred
- Medical Terminology strongly preferred
- American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
