- Summary
- This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by being an expert practitioner involved in more advanced scrub roles, providing assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room. Acts as an accountable expert in equipment utilized in the operating room.

- Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to independently perform core and specialty procedures in multiple services.
- Can professionally guide RN circulators in their role and function as second circulator.
- Anticipates the expected progression of events and modifies the plan accordingly.
- Demonstrates an increased level of prioritization.
- Possess knowledge of multiple types of equipment.
- Possess knowledge of contents of instrument trays in at least one service.
- Serves as orientation assistant for Level I Tech and models positive behavior.

- Must meet Level I criteria
- Demonstrates knowledge of techniques used by various surgeons for various procedures
- Maintains technical skill level and adapts to changes in surgical technique and operative intervention modalities.
- Demonstrates a constructive approach during all interactions with staff and nurse manager toward the organization
- Completes work assignments on time/readily accepts assignments, as observed by nurse manager
- Professional Experience
- Must have 2 years of surgical technician experience
- Education
- Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program or equivalent experience required.
- Licensure, Certification, Registration
- Currently certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
- Physical Demand Requirements
- Heavy: Exert 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently
