Greets and appropriately directs patients via phone calls or direct contact. Schedules appointments and updates demographic information, checks patients in and out. Maintains waiting room. Performs general clerical duties as needed.

Responsibilities:

Answers and screens telephone calls, verifying appointments, routing call and/or taking messages appropriately.

Schedules appointments.

Greets and checks patients into computer, takes or updates patient demographic information as needed.

Maintains waiting room.

Performs general clerical duties as needed, which includes, but not limited to: processing mail, making copies as requested, filing.

Obtains and verifies referrals and pre-certifications as per department and insurance company policy.

Calls in prescriptions to pharmacy as directed.

Scans all document in Epic and indexes appropriately.

Oversees physicians green folders, communicating with Manager when folders are not completed in a timely manner.

Oversees faxes, distributing faxes in a timely manner.

Sends for archived charts and sends back in a timely manner.

Adheres to attendance/tardy policies.

Manages PTO bank in accordance with Mercy guidelines.

Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:

  • Education: Requires high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years medical receptionist experience.
  • Other: Types 35-40 wpm.
