The Medical Nutrition Therapist works under the supervision of the department leader, and performs nutrition intervention/education to/or for an assigned patient case load and develops medical nutrition therapy plans and nutrition supplements that will provide maximum nutritional support during specific disease processes. Open, ongoing communication with nurses, physicians, dietary and other hospital personnel is essential.


  • Experience: Up to 1 year
  • Required Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Nutrition or related field that provides a thorough understanding of Clinical Nutrition and patient education and leads to registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Registry eligible or Registered Dietitian through completion of one of the following: a) an approved American Dietetic Association Internship Program; b) an Approved ADA Coordinated Undergraduate Program (CUP); c) a MasterÂ's Degree and six months of an ADA approved work study program; d) an approved AP4 program.Membership in the American Dietetic Associationis required.
  • Preferred Experience: 1-2 years
  • Licensure: RD/LD Registered Dietitian, Or Registry Eligible - RD Within 6 Mo/LD Within 3 Months Of RD MO and LD Licensed Dietitian Within 3 Months Of Registry
  • Other:
    • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are required
    • The Nutrition Therapist needs to demonstrate the ability to analyze any patient/co-worker/public nutrition situation, organize an approach, implement a plan, and evaluate its effectiveness using a variety of communication skills (educational materials, documentation, computer, telephone, public presentations)
