General Summary of Position:
The Project Manager is responsible for leading, facilitating, and administratively supporting the activities, goals, and initiatives of the Quality & Safety department. Provides key support and project management functions to leaders, physicians, and associates. Will act as the system administrator and database manager for the hospital's patient safety event management (PSE) system. Works with clinicians, administrators, and leadership within the hospital to implement and sustain a system for process improvement that supports the reduction of medical errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. Fosters a just culture of safety through HRO education, accreditation readiness, continuous quality improvement and systems improvement based on data analysis. Coordinates quality and process improvement projects as they relate to quality and safety initiatives; organizes and supports patient safety related initiatives such as conferences, educational events, meetings and education initiatives; participates as a team member in a wide range of quality improvement/patient safety activities; ensures the provision of administrative support and the strategic planning and improvement needs of Center for Patient Safety; supports the Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer and AVP Quality, Safety and Practice Excellence, AVP Regulatory Affairs and Risk Management.
Education, Certifications and/or Training Required
- APN/MSN/MHA/MPH preferable; consideration will be given to an appropriate combination of training and experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate preferable or must be received within 12 months of becoming eligible for the exam. Must keep licensures and certifications active while in role.
- Three to five years of progressively responsible administration experience preferably in a health care setting.
- Previous project management and budgetary management desired..
